PM9!

200 round break-in: 2 stovepipes, 2 jams, rest all good. Then did a bunch of HP with no problems...

Sweet piece, but what a PITA to clean and lube.

1 malf every 50 rounds? I wouldn't call that dependable.

I've got an KM40 Elite that's been flawless following breaking.
Mine took 400 rounds - LOL!

But now it runs like a Swiss Watch and will feed anything.
Enjoy your Kahr.

BTW I put a Handall Jr on the gun that I love and recommend. l

Nice little pistol. Why is it difficult to clean and lube? tom.:dunno:

I really don't want to hurt your feelings, but I had one of these an impressed wasn't very impressed especially for the price tag. It's better than the Keltecs and Diamondbacks. However, I like me Rugers, and most of all my Sig 290 which is my favorite pocket pistol that I have fired much better! But good luck to you with it and if you don't like it sell it for a better pocket pistol.

I've yet to touch a Kahr. I am intrigued by the size and hear a lot of people that opt to carry them. Enjoy.

Very nice. I've got a CM9 and it has been flawless thru about 500 rounds. Hope you like your PM9 as much as I like mine. Gets carried more than my gen 4 glock 26. Mine feels like an extension of my hand and disappears IWB with my Fusion Pac holster.

How many rounds do you have through your 290? I liked the ones I held I really liked, and they are really starting to come down in price, but they have such a terrible reputation! I don't think I have even heard of one that didn't break after 400 rounds.

i love my P9. 1000 rounds and no malfs... tons of different ammo ive ran through it too...

I shoot it better than my g17 too.

It was my primary carry gun until i got the g29. now its just my summer carry.

Break ins are ridiculous. Four malfunctions through 200 is not good at all. That is inexcusable for a gun that is used for any serious purpose.

"Flawless following break in" is ridiculous as well.

Really it depends upon when the malfs happend.

If they were subsequent, and then never again, it could be something that never occurs again. If it was just randomly stove piping, you might have an issue.

I mean, I shoot on the order of 10-20K a year. Aside from my bolt guns, I get atleast one malf per weapon per year. Depending upon the intensity of the shooting, I've gotten several, even with some of my more stalwart, reliable weapons. It happens. You just gotta roll with it.

Well, it's dependable now, I ran about 150 more hollow points through it with no problems. The manual does say 200 FMJ rounds for break-in, so that's what I did...

Thanks, that's cool. The PM9 is definately an entirely different feeling than the G26. Much more lightweight and shorter. Perfect for pocket, but I still like my G26 for IWB.

Nice little pistol. Why is it difficult to clean and lube? tom.:dunno:

I should say, much more detailed than the G26; also difficult to field strip. The G26 comes apart easily, the PM9 I have to really firmly hold the slide at the exact point and lay the push-pin against a hard surface to remove the slide stop lever. From what I've heard, Glocks don't like much oil, but Kahrs do...makes a mess!

Definately a notch below a Glock for sure. As compared to the G26 which is tight and well assembled, the PM9 is difficult to manage during field strip/cleaning, the magazine is flimsy as compared to G26 - but, again, perfect for pocket. Shoots very well.

Dunno what to say about this, except that it works fine now. I suppose any gun could jam during the exact moment you need it to save your life; therefore, extrapolating that 4 malfs during a required 200 round break-in indicates a higher chance of a future jam is something I'd need to see proof of.

Really it depends upon when the malfs happend.

If they were subsequent, and then never again, it could be something that never occurs again. If it was just randomly stove piping, you might have an issue.

I should note that 'limp-wristing' may have played a role, as I had the range for exactly one hour for the break-in and I was intent upon shooting the 200 FMJ followed by as many JHP as I could in the hour. I was not really worrying or focusing on hitting the target well or making groupings, merely getting through all the rounds. My hands were tired...:dunno:

I'm going again Saturday for a real range day; I'll let you know how it does...

Congrats. I had one for about 2.5 years until about a week ago. I found I liked the M&P Shield better.

But, the PM9 is a nice gun.

Congrats!

Nic pics. You got the night sights?

I carry my PM9. Soft shooting and accurate, and so small :)

Or I carry my Glock 26. Soft shooting and accurate, and thick :)
