Shot it side by side with my 629 over the weekend. I just love the way the Blackhawks roll in the hand instead of sending the impulse straight back.

I'm not getting rid of the .45 Colt or the 629, but they might not get as much field time.

10/22 with a promag archangel stock, and a BSA 3x9 illuminated reticle scope. Some other stuff too.

:offtopic: I wonder what ruger's most popular firearm is? As in, what have they sold the most of, in raw numbers, since they started making guns? Blackhawks? I would lump the SA revolvers, DA revolvers, and MK1,2,and 3 together. P series? the 10/22? With so many variants of each, I bet it'd be near impossible to know.

I'm not a Ruger rep but it has to be the 10/22. Just about everyone that likes guns owns or has owned one. They are almost iconic for the .22 cartridge. Everyone should have one.

Even throw in the chargers, 17HMR and 22WMR variants they did, and the custom frame makers like volquartsen for a few more drops in the bucket. However, they started out the with MK I, and made that for 15 years before they 10/22 was marketed. The MK series is about as iconic as the 10/22 when you think of the 22LR, and when you consider the ammount of MK variants, I'm sure they're up there as well. Just about everyone either has a Buckmark or MK.

I be loving me some LCR. I just have to decide .38 +P or .357 and then I "might" start leaving my G30 at home more often. (lighter the better).

I got the LCR357 because I'm a 357 nut. The weight is not much more and when I can't handle 357 anymore I can step back to 38+P or standard 38. If my Wife ever decides to get her CCWL, I will let her shoot it with Light rounds to practice and then load it with +P if she wants it. Hopefully she will be happy with one of my 442s. If not I will just buy her a new LCR357.

This might be out of place here, but it is my other Ruger. It is a 3" SP101 that took this doe from high up a tree, at about 20 yds. She ran a few leaps and piled up. I am wanting to get into 10mm auto. Any of you Glockers have a G29sf that you'd trade straight up for my gun? It now wears Hogue Mono Grips.

All of them are likely, or have, been on my hip out in the "pucker brush".

The very first handgun I ever bought was a new 1977 Security Six. I bought it in Ft Lauderdale to avoid the Miami/Dade County 3 day cooling off period. I sold it 2 years later to help fund the purchase of a 1971 GTO.

I bought a stainless steel GP100 the first year they came out. I had it sent to Wilson Combat for a world-class trigger/action job. I later traded the GP100 for a new Sif P220. I needed a carry gun as Texas just started issuing CHLs.

I'm now the proud owner of a stainless steel 7.5" Redhawk in .44mag. It's topped with a 1.5x Simmons scope. It's taken many hog at the deer lease. Recently I used it to drop a 170+ pound boar at 47 yards. The boar screamed but fell where he stood.

If only I still had those .357 wheelies.....

No pictures, but just put a super blackhawk .44 mag with a 3" bbl on layaway, this evening, at Sportsman's Warehouse. I didn't stop in there to buy a firearm, but couldn't leave it there. It will join the others in the safe, but I suspect it will see its fair share of hip time while out hiking .

After doing some checking, I found that Buds offers a better deal on the Super Blackhawk. I cancelled the layaway at Sportsmans, and ordered a Super Blackhawk with a 3 3/4 bbl in .44 mag, and a Talo New Vaquero with the same length barrel and a birdshead grip in .45 Colt, instead.

Factoring in local taxes, it still saves about a hundred fifty bucks.

Just got me a SR40C from my LGS. I didn't get the best deal but I didn't have to drive very far and they had it in the case so I didn't have to wait for it.

Does any body know exactly what this blackened alloy is made of? I guess that an alloy steel from Ruger is better than other companies stainless, dunno.

Anyhow, she ate a full value box of WWB 165gr without any belching and I got to fire off some Underwood 135gr Noslers @ 1500fps. With this Underwood ammo I felt like I was shooting a Glock 29. That stuff is hot!

Nice looking SR40C, I'd like to try one some day. Yes the Underwoods is warm, and seems to be loaded to take advantage of the .40's fantastic efficiency. I know it's legit because I've personally got 135gr at over 1550fps from my G23.

Thanks, I don't feel so bad about not holding out for a G29. But I gotta say, this Ruger feels just as heavy as the G29, I think there is only one or two ounces difference between the pistols. I looked up the weight for both but I got CRS so it doesn't really matter.

I figured six shooters would be getting stacked deep right now and I could find a killer deal. It's about time for me to pick up another 1911 and refresh my memory about why I don't keep one.
Strizzi's photo makes me think a Ruger 1911 might be enough to change my mind...

Thanks for the info. How does she hold to POI?

Even got a hit or two on the one at 200... was about 50/50 at 100... 50 yards was an every time thing.

Thanks for the info. How does she hold to POI?Doing okay at indoor-range distances (50 feet); haven't taken it outside yet. We still have snowdrifts melting around here.

Our old Spring saying was:

"April showers, bring May flowers."

New saying:

"April showers bring out the $%&# snowblower!"

I Mine is just a regular 10/22 with a Hogue stock, Green Mountain barrel and Nikon scope.....I am hoping to upgrade the internal components soon. It is amazing how much just few parts can do to completely change the feel of these rifles.

Hey Steve... Nice looking set up there amigo. Not to fret. Every time at 50 yds is really good, and even 50/50 at 100yds will line ot to 100% in a few more cylinders full. I think ya did real good. Most folks can't hit the bank at 100yds, or even 25yds. Keep er' up man ! ;)

Jeeez. Looking at that pic, I just realized I slipped back into my old habit of putting my left index finger in front of the trigger guard. That's what you get for learning to shoot in the 80's, I guess. Thought I had that habit beat... didn't realize I was doing it.

By the way... nice to see a little green again after last year's fire. This spot got hit hard, but most of the land has living trees. It will all come back....

haha.. Wait till that finger gets some blast and slag from the cylinder and you'll stop ! haha. None the less amigo, IMO you did real well, and I appreciate the PM's. This stuff (long range shooting) is REAL habit forming !

I went out side and shot my new Sig P220 Extreme 45acp today for the first time at various ranges, and with my handloads of various types from FMJ to HC, and all between. About 350 rds, and am one very happy camper with this puppy.

It is a 50yd deer dropper with the Lyman 200gr Devastator Cast HP for sure...

About 150rds through this one.

Time to liven this thead up a little. Here is my Ruger Bisley convertible in .45 Colt. Pretty much stock except it has a Belt Mountain knurled/locking base pin and the cylinders (both .45 Colt and .45 ACP/Super) have been reamed by CylinderSmith.

I've had a huge fascination with big bore single actions for a LONG time. I've caught the itch for a .50 and I'm wanting a BFR in .500 JRH...someday. Here's a .45 Colt 280gr Beartooth WFNGC beside a 10mm 200gr BT WFNGC.
