Recieved my CMP Springfield Service grade on Wed. morning. This is my first Garand, but not my last. These things are more addictive than my AR's.

Congrats and enjoy!

Buying from the CMP can be addictive. The stocks generally clean up pretty well. If the wood is oil soaked, nothing like oven cleaner and hot water to leech it out.
Thanks to the CMP, my Winchester collection has grown... with guest appearances by a Rock-Ola, Rock Island and Smith-Corona. You can't help it. You just can't stop at one.

I ended up using a heat gun to remove the oil from the stock, that and I left it in a trash bag in my truck. It is already 90 degrees here in Florida, so in less than a day, the oil was out of the stock.
I plan to buy a few more when funds allow
By the way, nice collection
