Ive got a NIB Glock 29SF oon it's way to me ... Should have it by Thursday or Friday depending on USPS. Oh and one more thing. I'm gonna put as many round through it as I can this weekend (all reloads, naturally). I'm gonna wring that little puppy out!

Just thought I'd gloat... Carry on!

Nice....I'm jealous! Every freaking time I get some extra cheese stashed away for a G29, my wife comes up with a "need" for something. Last week it was a new pool vacuum....arghhhh :(

Should have my Crossbreed Supertuck in a week or two, as well. Gonna have to pocket-carry until then. :)

Nick,
I would be interested to see how that Crossbreed holster does for you. I am needing a good holster for my 29SF as well, and I don't know where to start!

:faint:

Actually, I just sold my Keltec PF9 for which I had a Crossbreed. LOVED the holster. Best IWB I've ever used. I knew as soon as I decided to get a G29 that's I'd also be buying a CB. Go for it.

My 2nd choice is Smartcarry...

3rd choice would have to be a Comp-Tac CTAC.

There's a starting place for ya!

...off topic a bit...

For those that like the Crossbreed ST type of holster, Shielded Holsters makes a very similar (some might say knock-off) that I have had good results with. I use the Double Phalanx for my G20. Carries very comfortably, and the prices and shipping turnaround times are great.

Thanks guys ... yea, I wish I hadn't had to part with my Razorback a year or two back... but its okay. It was for a good cause. I've got the staples of the collection now. I guess Its time to look for the next tier. A 6-6.5" unfluted 610, a Contender and a 1006.

Who's with me??! :tongueout:

Kind of, at least, with the 610, but it's going to be a 4" or 5". I've owned my last 6" + revolvers. Congrats on the 29SF. Have a blast!

Picked up my G29SF today. I got a chance to shoot it this afternoon, what a sweet gun. I wish I understood why the felt recoil is so much less on the larger frame Glocks compared to shooting, say, some hot 9mm out of a G19.

I shot the G29SF side by side against my G20SF and predictably I shot the G20SF better, but not a great deal better. When I get done with my normal trigger upgrade and some new sights, I reckon I will shoot it right along side its bigger brother. Very nice.

nickE10mm
05-23-2012, 19:35
Good deal, WeeWilly...

I ran into a snag. Wife needs the car tomorrow so I may or may not get to pick mine up. Argh! Will update when I know more

As for your recoil impressions, remember: the G29 (and G20 for that matter) are simply BUILT for more power. Heavier and wider slides and frames really absorb recoil!

Have fun.

I was so excited, I took the Ghost Rocket connector out of one of my 9mm safe queens last night, fitted some springs and polished things up. As soon as the night sights get here she will be commissioned.

BTW, I shot some fairly hot loads yesterday, no frame battering marks at all. The dual spring RSA seems to really work.

Well, my worst fear came true. I got a NICS delay. ARRRGHHAAABBLAHHH. Happens to me on almost half of my firearm purchase. No reason whatsoever... Damn gub'mint.

The worst part about it is that I could get it tomorrow...or Saturday... or, due to the holiday, I could get it as late as Thursday. What BS.

Anyways, I got to fondle it and it's got the SINGLE BEST STOCK TRIGGER of ANY Glock I've bought to day. Very light and very crisp.

That is my observation as well, WW.
If memory serves, my old 29s used to get some 'frame slam' even with medium loads(WW silvertips, for one).

I am really liking these new 29s.

One thing that struck me while I was holding my soon-to-be-G29SF.... Despite my serial number being a recent model TAN-XXX, the finish didn't seem to be the flat, almost tan finish like I've been seeing. It almost looked like a Gen 3 finish. Even my Dad's G29 (serial number RXX (i think) looks very flat and tan-ish. Mine looks to be back to normal. The picture doesn't really make it clear since I took the pic under a fluorescent light, making it look tan when it really looked kinda shiny-blackish, like my G20SF gen3. Dunno, maybe I'm crazy... I honestly don't care which finish it really is... just thought it was interesting. FWIW, i field stripped it and it DOES have the new RSA... which looks totally different that any RSA i've EVER seen on ANY Glock. Pretty neat.

What does yours look like, Chemboy?

nickE10mm

Nick,
Nice!!

Not sure how to describe the looks of mine, it seems to have the normal Glock flat finish. I can't tell by the looks of your photo if they are the same or not.
Glad yours has the new RSA.

Okay, took an "early lunch" at work and picked up "Shorty the 10" and got a better look at it. Its IS, in fact, a duller, grayer finish... but looks very nice. Not chalky at all... more of a smooth flat finish. Looks like Glock is fine tuning their matte finish nowadays.

Anyhow, here' are a few pics. Pardon the dirty car floor, I'm long overdue. ;)

I get them half the time I purchase a gun (old crap on my record)

I'm in FL - and usually call FDLE with the control number and if you get a hold of a supervisor they can fix it if it's happened before but I suggest you get a UPIN.

The SF model has an "SF" on the right hand side of the receiver, just above the front post of the trigger guard.

Thanks Taterhead. Good to finally have a G29 again. I have owned two G29's in the past and sold them both off... but this was before I was reloading and I think I sold them because I was feeding all my good, expensive factory 10mm to my other pistols and the G29's never got shot. Now that I reload, I've got LOTS of ammo for ALL of my 10mm's! :)

Range report coming soon.... I thought I'd get a chance to shoot it this weekend but the holiday took over (plus, it was almost 100 degrees outside) and I didn't have time. Hopefully Saturday morning. Supposed to be 75 on Saturday so that will make it more bearable. Gonna try to get some hardcast through it, too.

My new Crossbreed Supertuck should ship this week, too.... I'll try and post on that when I get it, too. :tongueout:

Nick,
Looking forward to seeing your 'report'.
I took mine out again Saturday, put some 'cheap' Rem PMC fodder through mine(110 rounds). Shot nice, but something interesting: I ran a couple of different 15 round G20 mags. One of the OLD non-metal lined jobs and one recent manufactured type-the old style mag gave me a stove pipe and brass all over my head, chest, and at my feet! Switched to the brand new 15 round mag and everything worked great.
Interesting...

Lost the lust. I stopped by my dealer to check out reloading components. Moments later, the FEDEX guy dropped a box with 4 20SF's and a 29SF. I had to fondle it, and next thing I knew I was out a G26, a Smith 22A, and had a holster full of 29.

I can't wait until this weekend!

BTW, I blame you, Nick. The reloading components were just an excuse to check his guns.

I already have a Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casull and .357 SIG, so I guess you could say I gravitate toward niche rounds.

It is nice having a high power round in a small package. The trigger on my 29 feels so nice that I am considering selling my 35 to fund a 20SF.

I went from a G29 to a G26 to a Keltec PF9 and now back to a G29. I just never could get "into" 9mm. The 10mm serves me so much better and its a common cartridge for both my carry, range and hunting pistols.
