I think that these two will reach out and touch something at 1000-yds plus. Sako TRG-S on the left and M75 on the right.

TRG-S: .300 Win Mag, 2-lbs factory trigger, Sako scope mount, Leupold Vari-X III 3.5X10.
M75: .300 Win Mag, 2-lbs factory trigger, Leupold mount, Zeiss Conquest 4X12.

Very Nice! I wanted one but I just dont have the $$ to mess with them lol. Love them but honestly the scopes cost as much as I have to spend on a entire gun :)

We (family) have more long range stuff than handguns and short fighting weapons... Lots of Rem 700's from .220 Swifts to .375 Cheytec... Those are the two extremes, most are in the 6.5 - .308 diameters...

For really long range, nothing like a Sako TRG. I prefer the 7MM STW to any of the 30 Cals. The 7MM seems to shoot flatter to/past 1000 yds and bucks the cross winds better. The old (pre-bankruptcy) Redfield Golden 5-Star 4X12AO target works well.

http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n636/worland/SAKOTRGS.jpg

Nothing like a couple of Com-Bloc 7.62 NATO rifles for medium range sniping like a 308-1 Saiga with 6X POSP or SSG-97 with 8X POSP.

This particular long range whackin' stick is an 80's era Remington 700 BDL "Heavy Varmint" in .308. Leupold VXIII's varmint reticle is surprisingly accurate out to 500 yards. Beyond that, I have to use them funny dials.

Full custom .260 Remington by Robert Massey, using a Nisika action, with a 24" fluted bull barrel, all stainless. Stock is a Mcmillan, bedded and all that jazz, with a Decelerator pad . Trigger is under a pound, can't remember exactly what the weight is off the top of my head. Scope is a Leupold VX-III 4.5x15 Long Range. Thinking about different optics, these aren't so great in lower light.

Rem700 CDL in .270win with Zeiss optics and Leupold 1 piece base and rings. Its a real tack driver. Got a friend that is police sharp shooter and he shoots it much better than me so I know the rifle is capable of 3/4" groups at 100yds.

In this particular gun the Federal Fusion 130g shoots the best by far. It sure takes deer cleanly also.

For me pistols are fun but reaching out and touching something long range gets me! Might not believe me but I shot my first deer at about 350-400 yards with a remmington 700 270 and dropped it.

The adrenaline was high that day and my BP must have been 300/200 lol.

That gun has class :)

I had a 6mm much like it. Great gun, but sold it for college money. Oh well, a by gone era.

But I can shoot better with my Savage 10FP. Not real sure why, both have very light triggers. Maybe just the experience I gained. Maybe tactical black shoots better than pretty wood. But I do like the Remmy's still , so I bought this old timer model 7 in .308 for light hunting through the hills :)

Thanks. I just got to shoot it at a long range match where one stage was out of a moving helicopter. Still have a big ass grin on my face

The whole package weighs 11.5 lbs, which is just so nice for some things (like shooting out of helicopters), but recoil control is challenging. I'm almost ready to order a Gemtech Sandstorm to fix that problem.

Yes it would usually do it after it heated up. You could throw the bolt up but sometimes it would hang up when I tried to pull it back. I always had a can of rem oil to spray on it while I was shooting it.

Remington MSR in .308, 300 WM or .338 Lapua with interchangeable barrels and bolts. Long range, longer range, and really long range. Schmidt & Bender glass and a AAC Titan QD suppressor. Even though I am a civilian, I do get frequent opportunities to shoot these in various configurations and other sweet goodies like the ACR and R5's but unfortunately Remington limits sales of all these to the Defense Department only. However I can tell you, Remington has some pretty impressive new weapons coming out of R&D in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

I've had the opportunity to shoot "long" range only twice. It was 300 meters, which I believe is officially "medium" range. But, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I mean REALLY enjoyed it.

Like a fool, I traded away a great 7mm magnum a few years ago with a Leupold 6.5-20 scope that was extremely accurate and user friendly at long range. The closest thing I have now that fits the bill would be a .223 or .270.

It's really more of a 'medium-range' rifle, but it's a lot of fun.
Sabre Defense 20" SS 6.5 Grendel.

The scope in the pic has been replaced by a Leupold Mark 4 MR/T 2.5-8x36 (TMR reticle.) I've also put an AAC 51T on the muzzle so I can use my 762-SDN-6 on it. Works great out to 600 yards, and with the can it is pretty darned quiet. It's a 1 MOA gun with a couple of different factory offerings. I don't reload (yet.)

I know the cartridge can reach out farther, but I'm building a dedicated F-class Open rifle in 7mm SAUM for that.

I don't shoot for 1 MOA super-duper precision. All of my shooting is combat-oriented. I shoot human-sized silhouettes, and I shoot for Minute-of-Man.....after-all, its the way I train at work, and I see no need to change that........

With that said, my long-range rifle is an LWRC REPR w/ 16" barrel. I bought the 16" because I feel its a great compromise between portability, and accuracy. With the TA11J-308G ACOG, I'm good out to 600 meters.....even more if I push it with the BDC, which goes to 1200m, but I wouldn't even attempt to push a 16" 7.62 rifle to 1200m.

I zeroed it today with some 168g FGMM SMK. I did an initial BZO at 25 meters, then confirmed at 100m.

Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to feed it nothing but FGMM, so it'll be eating 150g American Eagle .308 Win.

Im pretty sure anyone who hunts deer will answer yes to your question, but I think what you meant was an "accurate" long range rifle.
Here is my 112BVSS chambered for the 30-06.
Those who claim the .308 is inheretly more accurate than the 30-06, I can prove them wrong all day long!
