No news in MSM. Alternative new sources have some info but it is sparse and ranges from everything is fine to sky falling in. It seems to me that the problem has not been resolved by any of the direct parties involved.

Don't know if anyone out here has some 411.

Thanks in advance.

The Canadian news was talking about not buying new Japanese cars as the metal in them has not been checked for high radiation levels.

I read this. The story I read said Fukashima had the potential to be 100X worse than Chernobyl.

Considering the winds carry most of the crap to the east (which means the western U.S.) and not Japan, I think we'll be in much deeper doo-doo if those spent fuel pools go up in flames.

Whitney's DEAD!!??....... Yeah, I thought there would be more talk on the debris fields floating over other than a soccer ball and a ghost fishing trip. I've heard the nuke disaster is the worst in history.

I read up quite a bit on Chernoyl some time before Fukushima (sorry for the misspelling in the title of the thread). What I can't understand is why they haven't started to encapsulate the entire scene. I suppose it is because of all the spent fuel. I believe that Chernobyl didn't have the spent fuel problem. I don't see the situation getting any better and I have no clue why there isn't a world wide global initiative to contain the situation. We are all fubar if they don't get their collective Scheisse together.

Yeah, because any of the other mainstream media outlets are any better?

The joke is on anyone who thinks their favorite news network isn't serving an agenda...

Japan has shut down ALL of it's many nuclear reactors.
The question is. Is an evacuation of everyone within 20km of the reactor a price we are willing to pay in the unlikely but still possible event that the plant does a meltdown?

We desperately need reactor designs we can walk away from and lose only the plant and not any surrounding areas.

There seem to be a number of Japanese "kamikaze" engineers working on this. They know they're killing themselves working on this but it's the way they are.

We're learning a lot from this. If they're willing to take the risk for the world to learn better ways to manage these events, God bless them.

Apparently the worst of this is over. Now to make sure it never happens again. Yeah, there's going to be some glow in the dark seafood for a while but it'll pass.

All the Best,

There are a few youtubers that have been monitoring here in the states. They have been picking up radiation in the snow and the rain.

You should be more worried about the Mercury in tuna than trace amounts of Cesium. My wife works in the field and is without a doubt the smartest person I know. When she tells me to worry I will worry.

We have had radiological leaks into the ocean before. Hell the USSR has lost several nuclear subs that have been glowing at our oceans bottom for the last 20 years. The damage this leak will have on our oceans will be minimal. However it will act as a tracer for Oceanologists for some time to come.
