Dad bought it on a whim. No canted sight thank god. Shot 400rds of various Wolf, Tula, and Brown Bear with 100% reliability.

Accuracy was dead on at 25yds and "minute of 2 liter bottle" at 125yds.

I was very impressed overall, did not have high expectations for this gun.

Trigger sucks, rear stock pinched my cheek and shoulder, and hand guards got hot to the touch after 100rds. Those are my only complaints. Overall the rifle was fun. $400 out the door supposedly NIB was a good price IMO.

It was 100% reliable with the three metal surplus 30rd mags I had.

Comments? Opinions? You wont hurt my feelings. Dad bought the gun without any research. I have never held Century Arms WASR-10's in high regard but it sure worked today.

Nothing like a cheap WASR for 7.62x39 fun!

Mine works fine.

I'm not big into military rifles, but it's fun to play with and works reliably. I don't regret buying it.

Glad I stocked up on ammo by the thousands before the big O got elected.

I've had mine for a few years and have yet to fire it.

I don't have a lot of open space to shoot off a few hundred rounds unless I want to hit a dozen houses!:wavey: NO LIE!!!!!

It feels great and looks great - that's what matters with an AK!

Just put on a SFS Bump Fire stock to replace the Romanian side-folder:

Can't wait to try it out.......if I can ever find a range that will allow it!

Mine worked flawless, and I really liked it. Then sold it and bought a Norinco!! What an AK!

Pops Range in Southwest Ranches will let you shoot that slide fire until your barrel melts.

The WASR is built by Cugir in the same plant as the Romanian military rifles. Other than the drunk peasant installing front sight blocks crooked, they're a functional, if not roughly finished, mil-spec AK. I've sold hundreds of them in the shop over the years, and the quality of Century Arm's conversion has improved substantially. My rep at Century Arms once eluded that they're now built with US compliance parts at Cugir to reduce cost and improve quality. We know from Romania's early exports (Intrac, CUR, SAR) that they can make a very nice, well finished rifle when they want to.

I've caught the handguards on fire in both my semi-auto and full auto AKs. Two drums will get them too hot to hold. I guess the Russians figured their troops wouldn't live long enough to fire 150 rds or would be wearing gloves!

SWEET!

Is it true that my Romanian Mini Draco AK pistol is 100% Romanian built because it is a pistol and NOT a rifle?

Thanks,

The WASR's nowadays are great entry level AK's (I bought 2). The prices on them seem to be going up here (PRK) and it hovers around $500 even online....so $400 for a double stack WASR, out the door? Buy two! Election time is coming after all!

(Today. May 26, 2012 i was in a Turner's outdoorsmen store here in the PRK in Orange county...WASR's are back in stock, now selling for $599. That is $100 more then last year when i bought my double stack WASR...I'm guessing in a year they may be $650 or more - or unavailable at all here.)

Mine gets hot after only 20-30 rounds (we have 10 round mag restrictions here), I always bring at least two guns to the range so i unload it when it gets hot, block open the action and shoot my STAG AR for a while til it cools.

I refinished the rifles with alumahyde II from brownell's and they came out nicely. I also refinished the wood with danish oil stain and Formby's tung oil (8 or 10 coats of it) and it was fun to do.
A good thing to do for a WASR is to polish the internals (mine came with a BURR on the hammer that i filed off!). It really smooths out the action. After 1000 rounds, number of misfires - ZERO. Here's the video i watched that motivated me to polish the parts. Some people even polish the bolt carrier and even the bolt down to bare metal, but not only is it not necessary, I think that's not a good idea (just asking for another place to rust).

The trigger issue can be cured by swapping in better trigger mechanism parts.

Well it went home with dad, so I wont have any more range time it for some time. I am glad to hear that he didn't get hosed on the deal.

I'd buy one at $400. Preferably if I could see it first. Assuming they weren't put together by one of Century's drunken monkeys, they seem to work. Be a perfect rifle to bang around and possibly keep in the trunk.

Read this page if you're experiencing any "trigger slap".

A must do for AK's, in my opinion.

It is a tribute to the designer that even with Century's visually impared, substance abusing, mechanically challenged chimps, MOST of their builds at least function.
