While riding my bike, I need a way to keep my motorcycle key separate from other keys I always carry.

I am thinking a quick detach key chain of some sort may be the answerer.

What is the best set up? Perhaps something that fits on a belt...not sure??

What is the best (heavy duty) product?

Where do I buy it?

Anyone have a solution, that works for you.

Personally, I prefer to just have it on a separate keyring instead of some kind of detachable thing. It goes in one pocket, the ring with all the other keys goes in the other pocket.

Yes, that is the way I have been doing it but there has to be a better way. I hate keeping up with two sets of keys.

I'm thinking a qd belt clip for bike key only.

We have two cars, so each car's key (and that electronic fob thingy) goes on one key ring. Together, we have four car key rings. Also, I keep a spare door key (for the car I drive most often) with my house keys.

This way, if I don't drive the car (usually 4 days a week), my pocket is a little emptier. And with four separate car key rings, I can visually see if they're in the drawer when no car is being driven.

I know police equipment stores sell a key ring holder that goes on your belt. It's basically a heavy duty leather loop with one of those spring loaded hook at the end to hold key rings. Cops use it to hold the keys to their police car instead of reaching into their pockets all the time. You can wear it up front, at the appendix position, when out riding.

I've been using this type of key ring when riding my bike.

I have been using one of these since 1987.

The same one!

With the plating worn off.
Less than 2 bucks back then and around $4.50 now.

I had company keys on a ring on the thumb-release end and my personal keys on the solid end.

Now that I'm retired I keep the liquor cabinet key on one end and the cigar safe key on the other. :animlol:

And I leave them both unlocked! :dancingbanana:

You can snap onto a belt loop, add multiple key rings, even double the snaps.

I use a carabiner hook with a 2" nylon strap, and a key-ring on both ends. All my automotive keys, have thier own rings. My bike key is alone, with a small rubber key-chain, that floats. Just, in case I drop it, I can find it easier. My truck keys are alone, just ignition, door locks, and again, a small keychain knife with centimental attachment. All of them come off my key-hook when in the ignition, because hanging the weight of your house keys, mail keys, assorted keys, and hook from your ignition is no good.

I only carry the car key for the car I'm driving, and leave the rest at home, with my other cars. I detach the key from my ring when I use it, put it back when I'm done.
