M&P 15/22 Grip ?

I just put a new Magpul grip on my rifle, the grip only had a recess for one of the springs that came out of the stock grip, do I need both? what do they do?

The small spring/detent that runs from the upper part of the grip and into the lower, puts tension on the selector.

Not sure what second spring your talking about.

there are definitely two springs and two places in the receiver for them, I think it doesn't matter that there is no little recess on the new grip as you can see there was barely one on the original, my new problem is the two other parts in the photo, my rifle tipped over on the carpet and they fell out, how do they go back in and which hole?

the second spring is for the release/takdown pin, still looking into the extra parts I now have

I think I figured it out, the pins only fit in the right holes I just didn't know which way to orient the plastic one initially
