View Full Version : TRP Operator is back from SACS

I sent my TRP Operator to the Springfield Custom Shop around November last year, and just recently got it back. About half of the wait time was due to Ion-Bond, but it was worth it.

Here is the build list,

-Stan Chen Magwell installed and checkered 20lpi
-Modify VZ grips for the magwell
-High Cut Front Strap
-Wilson Combat ambi safety
-Blend factory grip safety (free)
-Install Harrison rear sight to replace the factory adjustable
-Install white outline front night sight
-Harrison plunger tube
-Harrison Long Trigger
-Harrison slide stop
-Harrison Extended mag release
-Tool steel hammer sear and disconnector.
-Carry Bevel (more than normal)
-Ion Bond

The trigger is set just under 5lbs, which is what I asked for. I took it out and put a few rounds through her today and it shot great. I can't wait to really wring her out. Over all I am very happy with the work that SACS did.

Looks great. :thumbsup: I sent my TRP to SACS a year or so ago and really liked the work they did.

That is a nice looking gun. I'd love a pro operator but I don't have it in me to wait for one. Same problem I have with Nighthawk :(

I've found 'em in stock a few places..... but i won't buy a new gun with front serrations, and why get the add on rail when you can get one built in. I ordered a Colt Custom Shop gun.

Holy sh&t I like! My TRP Operator might be due for some love like that. I blame it on you!

Anyone have any experience with the ION Bond coating to tell how durable it might/might not be? I like the look of it. Please tell!

It's not cheap, but has been extremely durable in my experience. I carry a TRP with Ion-Bond on duty and it shows no holster wear, despite being holstered thousands of times. The finish will chip if hit hard enough, in my case the only areas that have shown any wear are the hammer, firing pin block, and the corner of the magwell where it hits my steel asp. It is very difficult to scratch and has been many times more durable than melonite and stock bake on finishes.

Cool thats always a plus when you hear first hand reports of a gun used day in day out and minimal signs of usage despite it being used 1000's of times. What do you do for your job?
