Got a hand gun AR (sort of). It was too good a deal to pass up, so FN 5.7 X 28 joined my stable. Wow. Took it out and got of a couple pesky jackrabbits with extreme prejudice at a friend's little ranch.

Congrats!

Always reminds me of the Grendel P30... but it was cheaper on the wallet to shoot.

Gratz... That is a sweet gun. I really like the FNs but I don't see those Five-seveNs at the LGS. I wouldn't mind adding that to my collection.

Enjoy

Enjoy... and ignore the nearly inevitable 5.7 haters. ;)

I love it! How does it shoot? Are there any new/strange/unusual/different characteristics that you could describe? Was thinking about renting the P90 at a LGS just because I have always been intrigued. But if buying, I'd probably lean more toward the F2000 rather than P90.

Enjoy the new toy! Someday I'll try something in 5.7.

I really want one of this but haven't had a chance to pick one up. When compare with 357sig ammo cost, 5.7 factory ammo isn't so bad.

The FNH 5.7 pistol is my EDC. 20 rd mag in the gun and two 20 rd mags on my belt. I also have an AR5.7 rifle or two at my disposal. I really like the PS90 as well.No recoil and ammo is not much more expensive than 5.56. Welcome to the 5.7 world!!

There's no comparison in quality between the FN and the POS Grendel.

They're certainly fun toys.

I've long thought they looked mighty cool.

I should get one so that I can play Battlestar Galactica reenactment or something. But a grand is a lot of moolah for a hunk of plastic.

I'd rather pay a grand for the FN than an HK.

Feels like a 22lr. Id probably get one if they weren't 1k and 9mm werent so much cheaper.

Try out the P90. Theyre awesome. I was lucky enough to shoot the full auto version when the FN rep was in town. He even had a suppressor and subsonics. It was as quiet on full auto as the suppressed Ruger Mark II.

I wouldnt be able to resist if you could buy full-auto.

Got to shoot a full-auto F2000 as well. It was very nice too. I think the P90 would be much nicer for cqb indoors or in the car however if you sbr it. That thing just feels great.

I've thought about getting into the 5.7 game once finances allow. I did hear though that civilian-legal 5.7 ammo is neutered; true or false?

Well, the restricted stuff is AP.

I think you can actually get better performance from some civilian manufacturers. But theyre pricey.

I finally got the reloading of .357 down, so maybe I will venture into the five seven reloading adventure soon.:2gun:

You can reload 5.7 ammo hotter with more lethal projectiles against non armored targets than FN currently does.

In before the Five Seven is no better than a .22 mag...

I just ordered some EA Protector for mine (and my PS90).

Bought a 5.7 upper for AR to add to my collection. Since I reload I don't worry about ammo price. Later I found out that Dillion doesn't make a 5.7 shell plate yet! :faint:

We will have to wait before we put it on a full auto M16.:whistling:

So you mean 22 mag is superior?

My question is though, is a 5.7 round a good man-stopper (assuming decent, but not perfect shot-placement)? Note; I'm asking specifically about the civilian-legal available round, fired in single-shot mode, not 3-round burst, since I'm assuming this would be coming from a PS90, not a P90. The idea of a SD weapon that has the capacity of the 5.7 round, plus the apparent minimal recoil and accuracy sounds very appealing to me the more I read about the round, but I still never heard if the civilian-neutered round has enough stopping power to be considered a reliable SD/HD weapon.

The FN-branded ammo isn't the only stuff available. Even so, SS195 & 197 aren't terrible SD rounds. If you want something better, take a look at Elite Ammunition. They have ammo specific to both the rifle and pistol platforms and it's good stuff.

I've CC'd my Five Seven with SS197 and didn't feel undergunned at all.
