I said to myself I wasn't going to gloat, but aw what the heck, I drove down to Stockbridge, Ga. and picked up a brand, spanking, NIB Gen 4 20.
So, I guess I'm now an official member of the 10 ring.
I know you want pics, but my camera is on the blink at the moment.
YES, they do exist and available alot sooner than I would have thought.
Great folks at Ed's Public Safety. Will get all my Glock stuff from them from now on.
I'm really loving the feel of the dimpled frame and the double recoil springs. It feels like a G22 in my hands. I've always wanted a 10mm and I was determined to wait until the Gen 4s came out.
Now, there are at least 49 or less left there at Ed's.
I may be wanting to sell my Gen 3 21SF and get a Gen 4 21 now, maybe, maybe not.

This is Glock perfection!

Range report coming soon....

Outstanding! You may be one of the earliest adopters of the Gen4 G20 10mm in the entire USA.

I have two quick questions, if you don't mind answering them:

Does your Gen4 G20 have a lanyard hole?
Did it come from the factory equipped with the "." connector?

Yes, it does have a lanyard hole. I don't know about the "." connector. But the trigger pull seems smoother and lighter that most stock Glocks I've handled.

Looking forward to your pictures. Won a random pistol at Dayton and I may call Glock to see if I can get a Gen 4 Glock 20 even though it wasn't. On the award form.

Thanks for the response. GT member plouffedaddy confirmed that the Gen4 G20 comes equipped with the "•" connector in the thread he started in General Glocking, titled "Just picked up my Gen4 G20 (http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1427215)". He also purchased his Gen4 G20 from Ed's Public Safety.

BTW, nice picture!

Thanks for the info.
I just realized all the 10mm ammo I've got is the expensive Ga. Arms hunting stuff. I'll have to make a 10mm bullet and brass run at the gun show coming up on the weekend of the 23rd and 24th. Hopefully that will hold me until I do a big order with Midway later on.
I've just got the dies and powder and primers. I don't want to use cast bullets until I get a KKM 6" barrel in there. KKM said their barrels will fit in all Gen 4s with no problems.

Awesome!

Once you are ready to take it down, many of us would like to see close up pics of the inside, under side of the slide, barrel's chamber with a round in it, trigger bar, connector, recoil spring assembly, etc.

Thx in advance.

Enjoy your new toy and save 'em brass.

Sorry guys, that's all the photos for now. Trust me, it's worth taking the plunge and buying one of these Gen 4 20s for yourself.
If it shoots like it looks, it will be a real winner. I'll be putting together some jacketed reloads in about a week or so and let you know how she does at the range.
Ed's Public Safety in Stockbridge, Ga. is the #1 Glock dealer in Georgia. I know they would be more than happy to help you "drive" one out of the showroom.

Congrats on that new G20!

Gotta say that the KKM barrel is outstanding--the spent brass still spins freely in the case gauges. Not so with the stock barrel. All of that brass had bulging bellies.

Some of my favorites for 10mm:

I noticed that the test fired cases that came with the gun didn't have bulging bellies. Of course, they were the aluminum cases from Blazer or someone like that.

I've never reloaded any 10mm before. Can I still use the bulging or smiling faces cases as they are called or should I wait to get the KKM barrel before I shoot the gun to reload any fired cases?

The test cases are probably just lower pressure rounds (and if they are Blazer, they are definitely low power). Also, aluminum might not swell like brass does....

Anyhow, if you are talking about BRASS cases that are bulged a bit, yes, you can reload them. Obviously you can't reload aluminum cases at all.

Another thing. I noticed in your reloading supplies that you have Large Pistol primers. The instructions in my new Lee .40 S&W/10mm Carbide Dies call for Small Pistol primers. Is it different from .40S&W to 10mm on the size of the primers required?
I'll probably just keep Starline brass in 10mm in stock as my cases for reloading.

Thanks for the great info. !

I don't know Glock's reason for using aluminum cases for the alibis, but the dept. I worked for used them because of a belief that aluminum imprints the chamber/breach better than brass. Perhaps they use them because someone might be inclined to recycle the brass into their reloading supply if they were reloadable. You could email Glock and ask.

It depends on the extent of the bulge, and the reason. A "smile" is a no-go, as it often refers to a crease on the brass. A crease is a weakness, and may fail prematurely. Probably OK with light loads, but I wouldn't use them for moderate to full pressure charges. A bulge, if not significant, is OK to reload. "Guppy" bulges are no good, for the same reason as the smiles, too much stress. A better supported chamber (aftermarket) will often save brass that the OEM barrel will make unusable, all else being equal. It's a judgment call you should base on your observations, and experience.

Blazer is cheap, thats why.

A smiled or "creased" case is trash. Not even safe for low power loads.

I don't know for sure until I place a live round in the chamber, but at first glance the stock barrel in this Gen 4 20, looks a little more supported in the chamber area than other Glock stock barrels I have seen in the past.

Does your Gen4 G21 barrel and slide fit the Gen4 G20 and work properly on it (I'm wondering/hoping if the Gen4's indeed do have that interchangability that the Gen3's had)?

Wow. Imagine a KB in a Gen4 and what it would do to the sale of gen4 Glocks. True reason for the KB may become irrelevant when pandora news box is open'd.

I agree. My fault, for not being more clear. Was referring to the degree of bulge, not smiles. A true "smile" is a liability, no matter the pressure. Problem is, the definition (perception?) of "smile" varies.

Absolutely. Brass is cheap. I always have a plier handy on the bench. If I have to look twice, it gets a pinch. Nothing to look back at, or accidentally get back in the stock.

I really like the Gen 4 frames, now that I have a Gen 4 20. I like my Gen 3 21SF, have it rigged to shoot .45 Super.

Will probably get a Gen 4 21 before the end of the year and keep it stock.

I just noticed on youtube that there is new video(today) on the Gen 4 20.

There is guy on there who does some shooting and chrony work with his new Gen 4 20. It passed all his tests with flying colors. Lasts about 10min.

Type in Gen 4 Glock 20. Very informative video.

Thanks for the heads up! Great info. in that thread. I'm glad to hear about the Gen 4 being able to accept the ISMI springs soon. I have two different ones I use in my Gen 3 21SF. A 22lb. and 24lb. when I shoot .45 Super loads. I like that and I'll use those in a Gen 4 21, that I'll probably get in a few months and in my new Gen 4 20 as well.
Another tidbit I found out the other day as well. I bought a Gen 3 Glock 20 15 round magazine about a year ago and it fits in my new Gen 4 20, no problem. I had thought I heard that the Gen 3 and Gen 4 mags weren't compatible. In this case, at least on my gun, it works fine in both the Gen 3 and Gen 4 20 mag wells.

The Gen3 and Gen4 mags work in either Gen of pistol with one exception. The only incompatibility that exists is the case of a Gen3 mag in a Gen4 pistol where the mag release has been reversed for left-handed operation. A Gen3 mag lacks the required mag catch notch on the left-hand side.

Great video you put together! Now that I see that Gen 3 guide rods and recoil springs can used in Gen 4 21s and 20s with an adapter, I think I will see about trading my Gen 3 21SF at Ed's or selling it to someone soon and get a Gen 4 21. Or I may keep it and get a Gen 4 21 in a few months. anyway.
Does anyone know if the Gen 4 21 frames length of pull are or can be made smaller than the 21SFs with the removable back straps?
It seems like my new Gen 4 20 is smaller in my hands than my Gen 3 21SF.

I load 10mm shot through a KKM barrel, and it will still spin freely in the case gauge after being shot. Mine is a G20 stock length for a G20SF, and the chamber support is outstanding!

Be sure to ask about a Gen RSA half moon cutout on yours. I compared the KKM slot to the G21 Gen4 slot, and they are definitely different.

21Glock
06-20-2012, 14:33
So, they are different. KKM in an e-mail said their barrels would work in Gen 4 guns. I guess I could use my Gen 3 after market ss guide rod and ISMI 22lb. spring in their KKM barrel with a Gen 4 slide hole adapter without getting a half moon cut in the KKM barrel.

Does anyone know what lb. weight the new RSA is in the new Gen 4 21s and 20s?
