Hey guys , any KSP guys here ? I have heard that their duty guns sre Glock 35's. Are there any KSP guys here that can confirm that ? I live on the boarder near Kentucky and my department does have dealings with them every so often when things happen near the state line but I have never looked close enough at their duty pistols.
We carry G22's but I would love the extra sight radius of the 35's.
Anyone know for sure if they carry them ?

Not KSP, but I know for a fact they do - they are/already have upgraded from Gen3 to Gen4 G35's. Info came from assistant commander of training - I do our departments armorer work, and called to see if they were interested in the Glock school we hosted. Was told they were getting a free class as part of the trade in for the Gen4.

I carried a personally owned G35 instead of the issued G22 until I switched to a 1911. The longer sight radius definitely improved my shooting, it also never malfunctioned, unlike my 22.

I carried a G35 when I was required to carry a .40. I prefered it to the G22. It is very pleasant to shoot.

They do.

I almost bought one instead of my G22.

They are each issued a G35, a G27, a Remington 870 and an M-16A1 converted to semi-auto(but can buy their own AR).

What would be a good buying price for one of the old KSP g35's and g27? has anyone bought one?

And there are people saying the 35 is NOT used for carry because of the 3.5 pound connector......

There is a blue-label (LE version, 3 magazines, 5.5 connector) available for both the 34 and 35...

I'd say Kiesler's, but I can check if you'd like.

Speer Gold Dot 155 gr. for duty and Master Cartridge for the range.

They just recently started switching over to Gen 4's. They must have gotten secret "police" Gen 4's, because they don't malfunction like the ones the guys in General Glocking always post about.

I think the troopers are paying $300 for the 27 and $425 for the 35, but you can bet they'll go higher to the public when they get that far. I was going to get a 27, but I spent the money on a Browning Hi Power at Bud's. Now I have a pile of .40 ammo and no .40 pistols (even though that's my favorite caliber).

I was told $402 for the 27 and close to $500 for the 35 + $15 per gun for transfer fee.. That sounds alittle high to me. I just wanted to see if anyone on here was with ksp and knew what they were goin for.

That's probably the cost when they are sold at retail. The trooper who carries the gun is allowed to buy it a lot cheaper at turn-in time.

I was just wanting to know if that was the same price the trooper holding the gun was paying or if they was marking them up to the retired troopers?

I got ya' the first time

It's no fave of mine. At least I have a choice: Springfield XD40, or a Springfield XD40. If I had a choice, I'd carry a G17 or my G21.

Hey, I grew up in a family of attorneys. Didn't affect me, 'fect me, 'fect me

We get a box a month for practice, all we have to do is ask. I have a stack in my locker that you can use to count how many months I've worked here.

The trigger in both thier G35 and G27 are NY1 8 lbs. The Glock 27's are a few years older than the 35's. They switched to the 27 for a backup while they still had the 10mm's The KSP logo is lasered into each slide and the SN's start with KSP. Only a few troopers near HQ have the Gen 4's. They have not got a lot of them out in the state yet.

Good news - the new KSP Gen 4's have the standard 5 lb. trigger. I was at the range the other day when they were issuing some and qualifying.

I can't complain...I get as much .40 and 9mm I want for practice (primary/back-up). Policy might change to allow a box or two per month for practice with personal rifles. Okay, I will complain...a little bit.

Bren, do you know what load KSP carried in their 10mm's?

When they first issued 10mm's it was Remington 180 gr. JHP, back when they were much hotter than most of the 10mm still on the market (early 90's). Then they switched to a custom load from Master Cartridge that had the headstamp "KSP - 10MM" and used 180 gr. gold dot hollow points.

A good buddy of mine, Mike , is the personal security for the Governor of KY. He's showed me both of his issued handguns...the Smith in 10mm and the Glock in 40. I believe he's a Glock armorer, too, and he teaches Krav Maga.

Thats good. I would say their scores will come up a little at the range. I have switched several of the retired guys Glocks they purchased to the standard 5 lb setup. They couldnt wait to get that 8lb outta there. They are allowed to buy 1 when they retire. Either the 35 or 27. Every unit I know bought the 27 and let the 35 go back.
