So what would people think of Paul Ryan (WI) as our VEEP candidate?

Itís Official: Paul Ryan is Being Vetted for Veep
...
Ryan, one of the GOPís brightest young stars, is clearly a favorite of Romney allies. But some top Republican officials are wary of plucking him from the House, where he is the partyís most influential (http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/303798/ryan-being-vetted-vp-robert-costa) voice on fiscal issues.

I'm of two minds in this:
Politically, Ryan would instantly energize the base, and unlike Palin, attacking his gravitas would be considerably harder, given that he's one of the leading conservative voices of economic policy, and one of the top voices on our side on House Ways & Means. Unlike Romney, almost no one questions Ryan's conservative credentials, and unlike most politicians in DC, Ryan has been fearless tackling the tough issues that need tackling.

Trivial note; the Romney/Ryan ticket has a cute alliteration.

On the other hand, Ryan does nothing to shore up Romney's foreign policy. Also, while Ryan energizes the Right, he's also just as likely to fire up the hard-Left. In addition, Congressmen/Senators typically fare poorer in executive positions than Govenors/Mayors, so there may be some question how effective he'd be as an executive. Also, even if all this is handled, replacing Ryan's fiscal steadfastness in the House wouldn't be easy; an argument could be made that he's more valuable to the conservative cause where he is, instead of VPOTUS.

Better than Biden by a long shot. Better than Hillary in case they pull that surprise too.

Not that excited.

If he were to change his stance on Social Security and the WOT I would be.

In whatever position he is/will be, he's got his mind set in the right way: tackling the deficit. Hopefully he sticks to that.
Being VP might be good exposure for a future president...:)

Being overly worried about foreign policy isn't in the countries best interests when your country is crumbleing around you. If we don't get out financial house in order, our foreign policy will be saying yes sir to whoever holds the most paper on us.

He is too divisive with his stand on Soc Sec and Medicare.
Mitt will need someone the middle can vote for.

It is all about garnering votes.

I'd be incredibly surprised if Mittens taps Ryan. Romney isn't chasing budget hawks and conservatives, he's after moderates and swing voters. I'd say Rubio was a shoo-in but Rubio isn't drawing that many Hispanic voters.

I'm thinking Huntsman or Lugar is more Mitten's speed.

Just shoot me now.

Actually, I think these are either impossible or just plain stupid.

Huntsman makes it a little too much Mormon and says he s gonna mormonize everything in sight. No balance to the ticket and Hunstman is about a ghey as a RINO as you can get.

Lugar is ancient, decrepit and stupid. He just got fired in a primary, thanks be to God and needs to hang it up as the most liberal R in the senate. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Ryan is a good pick.

He's got the young and handsome down.

He is heavily invested in the financial aspect of government and working hard on realistic alternatives.

He's a financial problem solver and that is the number one focus a ticket needs right now. Financial competence.

Becoming VP would be a downgrade for Ryan and Rubio right now. Keep them both where they are.

At this point, I'd like to see Sherriff Arpio get the nod.

I can point to why Ryan won't be on the ticket and why Mittens will choose another big-government RINO for his running mate:
