My Father gave this to me today. It belonged to a Great Uncle of mine. I assume it is from the 1950's. It holds 9 rounds of .22LR and is SA/DA. Any information about this model would be appreciated. Time to go clean it up. 226187226188

They are a great little .22. I have a neat variatio of it myself. Check and see if, on the back of the cylinder there are notches above each chamber. This was to make it harmless to dry fire the rimfire. few makers have done that.

It does have the notches. Good to know! I just shot it, what a blast! The DA might be the worst ever but the SA is great. Surprisingly accurate too.

I found a great page about them. http://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/HSD9/hsd9.html

This one was made in 1959. My Aunt worked for Sears back then, I would bet she bought it there.

Here is a cousin to yours, the one in the center is a "Sentinel". It was made in a number of shapes around the same basic action.

Here's the one I inherited from my Dad. As you can see I have the original box, all of the paper work and the receipt. I would have to get it out of the closet to find out for sure but I know he paid less than $50 for it back in 1959.

Info page was a great find. I have some pics of a stainless one my Brother bought just a couple of months ago. When I get a chance I'll upload the pics and post them.

I was with my father when he bought the brand new Double Nine that I now have: Tulsa, OK 1958 $44.00.
Still a very accurate gun & a prized possession.

I have the very same model pistol in my safe. It was my first pistol and my dad gave it to me in 1963. He bought a pawn shop ticket off a friend for $5 and it cost $3 to get the gun out of hock. I don't know if $8 for the gun back then was a deal or not but it was worth a million to me when dad handed it to me. I killed a lot of cans with that gun out on the mesa north east of Albuquerque, NM. That area is all built up now. I just looked and I still have the holster I practiced my quick draw with too.

My father has 2 of them, one just like that one and another stainless, they belonged to his father and will be mine one day. I grew up shooting them, evey now and then we take em out of the safe and shoot em.

The double nine was the first handgun that I owned. It would outshoot all of my friends Ruger single sixes.
