Who says politics doesn't pay? On top of the five-fold pay increase, Daniels will be responsible for lobbying the very government he led for eight years to get more money for state-supported Purdue University. He will be provided a house at university expense along with a car and driver. The university president's pay is determined by the 10 member board of trustees, eight of whom were appointed by Daniels.
While governor, Daniels championed a new law that banned former government employees from lobbying the state for a year after their departure. There are rumblings he is trying to get a waiver.
Sniff, sniff. If it smells rotten....
Oh wait, he's a "conservative Republican". All is well.
