Pricey, but the B's are neat pistols. Be sure to stock up on firing pins and extractors.
For that much money, I look for a used Glock. Something that will last forever...

If you want a Star Model B, why would you buy a Glock?
Great pistols
They aren't 1911s, but fairly close.

:) My first thought when I got the AIM ad in my email was "I bet Bac has one or more of those"!! :)

Just one, my friend.
Its a good shooter, but I think I've only had it to the range once so far.
Will they take 1911 magazines?

No.
They have NO interchangeability with a real 1911.
You aren't going to get a Russian rework of a Bulgarian contract gun that looks like Bac's, either.
That said, I kind of like the design and wish I had bought one while they were cheap.
The only serious weak point that I know of is the firing pin. Retained by a pin coming down from under the rear sight, they are subject to breakage if dryfired much. So don't dryfire much, or not without a snap cap, at least.

My old manager used to love them, he did note that (at least his) tended to FTE with 115 grain, but loved anything heavier

I don't think they take anything 1911.
Its just a very similar style.
...oops, Jim beat me to it. :)

Yeah, mine is actually in very nice condition. At least it is compared to most others I've seen.
Buy it. Then have it nickel plated.

I've owned one and fired another extensively. Nice triggers and ergonomics, but both were among the least reliable pistols of the many hundreds I've owned or shot. Later Star 9mm designs, still roughly 1911-based, were much more reliable.

I have a Star 30M 9mm that's outstanding.
Its not at all like a 1911 though.

I have a 1943 STAR B 9mm that I bought from AIM a couple years ago. After a little cleaning and tweeking, it is a nice shooting pistol.

I also have a 1953 model as well. Here it is with the '43.
