Pricey, but the B's are neat pistols. Be sure to stock up on firing pins and extractors.

No.
They have NO interchangeability with a real 1911.
You aren't going to get a Russian rework of a Bulgarian contract gun that looks like Bac's, either.

That said, I kind of like the design and wish I had bought one while they were cheap.

The only serious weak point that I know of is the firing pin. Retained by a pin coming down from under the rear sight, they are subject to breakage if dryfired much. So don't dryfire much, or not without a snap cap, at least.

My old manager used to love them, he did note that (at least his) tended to FTE with 115 grain, but loved anything heavier

Its just a very similar style.

Yeah, mine is actually in very nice condition. At least it is compared to most others I've seen.

I've owned one and fired another extensively. Nice triggers and ergonomics, but both were among the least reliable pistols of the many hundreds I've owned or shot. Later Star 9mm designs, still roughly 1911-based, were much more reliable.

I have a Star 30M 9mm that's outstanding.

Its not at all like a 1911 though.

I have a 1943 STAR B 9mm that I bought from AIM a couple years ago. After a little cleaning and tweeking, it is a nice shooting pistol.
