Anyone have any stories or anything about them? They are extremely affordable at $379 USD MSRP. My old man is looking at getting one and I was just wanting to dig deeper for more information on them.

Thanks in advance!

Joe

Better than the SW VE which is no longer in production and hard to beat as a factory SD gun for less than $400 new and with a S&W lifetime warranty. For about $20 you can buy an APEX spring kit that will get the trigger pull down to about 5lbs.

Whats the factory trigger pull on a S&W? I would assume its near 8lbs. I've never done a trigger job either so I don't know how easy/hard it is to do a spring swap.

I have no issues with my Sigma, other than a lousy trigger.

You can find deals on M&Ps for like $429 sometimes. I'd much rather get an M&P.

I wasn't really looking at opinions on different models, but if you insist; Why?

The Sigma VE models are still in production and are in the 2012 catalog. The SD guns which were an updated version of the Sigma are no longer in production.

The three series of guns in the Sigma class are the Sigma, the SD, and the M&P. I know people don't want to believe their more expensive M&P could ever be related to the Sigma, but it is. Anyone who owns both can clearly tell that.

I would have thought the cheaper Sigma would have been phased out long ago what with the P99 coming about, but that didn't happen. It didn't happen when the M&P was born, or the now ill fated SD pistol.

I guess there is still a need for a cheap quality gun.

It should be noted that I love the Sigma. Enough to own three of them. I also have three of the M&P's. I have yet to see the SD in a gunstore.

The Sigma (SW9VE and SW40VE) is no longer being made, nor are the SD9 and SD40, both having been replaced by the SD9VE and SD40VE, which are basically SDs without the Melonite finish and lacking a night front sight.

I haven't tested it, but it felt to be slightly north of eight pound before the springs were replaced and about five pounds thereafter.

Hold the sides of the frame while dry firing the SD. It flexes like crazy. The M&P is a much more solid platform.

Why the hell does the frame flex? I will have to go with my dad when he buys it to check it out myself then.

SD = Sigma

Okay, that's pretty obvious. Fortunately I already knew that. Unfortunately, you have provided me with no information.

If you can live with an M&P in .357 Sig. In the CDNN Weekly Gun Specials for 07-03-12, they had them for 399.99. They are no lock duty sized weapons that come with 2 magazines. Also S&W is having the 50.00 rebate for Servicemen.
