So I've inherited this Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver all matching numbers. Along with a reproduction Leech and Rigdon 36 cal pistol.
I guess what I'm really wanting to know is how much could this set be worth and how rare is it.

It looks like the case and accessories are not contemporary with the Colt Navy. Just the Colt by itself has a substantial value. One in fair condition usually will bring $1500 - $2000 to the right buyer. If they are in good to excellent condition, $3000 - $9000. Any kind of historical connection with provenance will drive the price up substantially.

The Leech & Rigdon can be bought new for around $350 so its value is just as a shooter.

Wow, nice looking '51. I'd track down someone qualified to authenticate and appraise it. That would be an awesome addition to anyone's collection and will easily fetch several thousand or higher depending on its rarity in the production series.

PS - don't touch that finish (I'm sure you already knew that though).

Also - I would contact Colt and see if they have the records from the serial range that pistol is in. A factory fire destroyed many of the records from mid 1800's (IIRC) but not sure what survived.

They used to provide a letter head document with the date of production and destination it was shipped to for some fee, I want to say about $100.

You guys have been amazing, thanks. The finish was unfortunately tapered with a little bit.Looks like a wire wheel/brush was taken to it,its not bad though. As for the papers i pretty much have it all from the receipts to the authenticity of it.
