I was never a Rush fan and I literally haven't heard anything more than an interview with him in years. I found that he was very good at pointing out the problems, pretty good at diagnosing the causes, but inconsistent in suggesting cures.

Campaigning the way we ought would probably be beyond the bounds of acceptable taste.

It ought to be really ugly.

Ladies and Gentleman, the President of the United States is a LIAR, and a lawless Marxist thug…and here's why: (cue speech culled directly from a Mark Levin broadcast…)

He has broken the law

(…enumerated list of infractions)

He apologizes for our greatness…

He is choking the economy with his leftist, statist regulations…

We spent two generations teaching exactly why the Communists were such a threat to the very life of our nation. Now, they're treated as guests at the White House…

They're creating a nanny state where we're no longer free to choose our own actions, or now, inactions

The President is acting as an Imperial dictator, ignoring the law at will

HE spends us into bankruptcy.

He's destroying private property rights with wholesale confiscation…

We will not survive a second term…

Too many punches pulled. People need to start getting comfortable with the truth and act accordingly.

AMEN! I wish the repubs would take a page from reagan and go back and listen to his speeches pounding socialism into the ground and turn it on the marxist in office :steamed:

Yep.

No more of this, He's a nice guy, personally, but, I disagree with...

Instead,

LAdies and Gentlemen, if we don't get this bozo, clueless inept amateur out of the White House, its doubtful this country will exist in 4 years. His whole idea based on Marxist, Clowerd-Piven Socialist ideology is to crash the whole system so he can re-build it in his utopian vision. Well if crashing the system is his goal, he's doing a great job! If you like that, vote for him. Otherwise, here's what I'm going to do...

Excellent start there G29!

If you want to get people's attention and start a movement, you better march right into the temple and start turning over tables.

Or no one will ever hear you.

I would like to see "himself" boxed in to a point he HAD to admit this to his followers, so THEY would have to look other Americans in the face and admit what they are voting for.

Well, it could happen.

The republicans have been clueless for a very long time. They don't want to put forth solutions, and they don't want to be in power. They want to collect their paychecks and their perks while blaming the democrats. The democrats have no such problem. They will slaughter you on the spot to further their agenda.

Should be written up in the form of the Declaration of Independence. Sure fits well enough.

A perfect example is his campaign representative going on national TV to declare that Romney thinks ACA is a penalty, not a tax, only to have the candidate go 180 the next day. This has really taken the wind out of Republican's sails on this issue.

"If their candidate's campaign cannot decide whether they think it's a penalty or a tax, maybe it's not so bad."

How are Republicans supposed to re-educate everyone? ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, and HuffPo are all fully supportive of Obama. Not even Clinton had this level of support. In a recent poll, something like 57% of Americans didn't even know about the SCOTUS ruling, which means they hadn't even bothered spending just a few minutes watching/reading the 80% of media outlets that are anti-Republican. The education system is mostly outright liberal indoctrination at this point and almost all careers require years of education. Even people who aren't liberal can still spend years or decades undoing all of the indoctrination that they received. Republicans have a huge disadvantage, particularly factoring in many secular liberal's lack of basic moral compulsion for truthfulness.

Well done, Doc.

And many here wanted to kick Paul out of the party. I submit that Ronnie would have backed him were he still in the game.

I would greatly prefer ineptitude over unmitigated leftist malevolence.

What was it PJ O'Rourke said? Republicans run on the platform that says government doesn't work, then they get elected and prove it.

:)

Look, something we have to keep in mind here is that we are all pretty informed people, politically speaking. But don't forget that there's a sizeable chunk, and I'd say a majority, of people out there who don't follow this stuff much at all. I mean, look at this story. (http://www.poynter.org/latest-news/mediawire/179785/despite-media-coverage-one-third-of-americans-dont-know-what-supreme-court-ruled-on-health-care/) 45% of those polled either didn't know SCOTUS ruled on Obamacare or what the ruling actually was.

Will these in-your-face call-Obama-a-liar attacks really resonate? Because one thing we really do know is that Obama excels at playing the victim card. He's been doing it for three years now complaining that he's a victim of circumstance and Bush is the real culprit behind...everything. Get out there and start suggesting that Obama is an in-the-red Marxist and there will be a backlash. Low-information voters just see the kinda-nice guy doing the best he can. They don't *want* to believe anything else.

The trick is to craft the message so it appeals to those low-information folks.

GT -- I certainly understand your point.

As you noted, the people on this forum are pretty aware of the issues. Most are also pretty entrenched in their opinions one way or another. My comment was strictly observational for those folks.

Conversations with people that I actually think can be swayed tend to go somewhat differently -- for one, they're actually conversations. :) Even on this forum, my approach is different depending on the target audience.

I don't expect Gunhaver to be swayed, so I don't really bother.

Yep, just run on Obama's record of failure, and we'll have our touchdown.

...nor can you get re-elected by enacting the cures that are needed. That's why the GOP has adopted a "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" philosophy which gave us Medicare Part D and No Child Left Behind. The Republicans would rather keep their cushy jobs than do the right thing.

Because there are really only three other choices. Be a leaf in the wind, accept a known worse entity, or vote for someone that will come in last in order to send a message that no one will ever receive.
