I load up 180gr FMJ bullets over 14.3gr of AA#9. The velocity should be somewhere around 1250-1275 fps. I don't shoot a lot of these loads because they are harsher on the gun and brass.

I shot a 10rnd mag of these hot loads out of my G29 this morning and all of my rounds were low and left. However, with my normal warm range loads (about 1150fps), I can keep all rounds inside of a paper plate from 7yd to 25yd.

I'm thinking that the sting of the recoil was causing my trigger control to be off. However, it might also be that the point of impact of these hot loads is slightly different.

I definitely shoot my G19 better than my G29. I've got a 20SF on the way, so I'm hoping that I shoot a little better with the larger gun.

Does anyone experience less than stellar performance with really hot loads?

The only response I can offer is that my G20, with Double Tap 180gr and 200gr controlled expansion loads, is easily the most accurate handgun I own.

14.3grs is hot. I load 13.5grs under my 180gr XTP's, I find that very pleasant in both my 20 and 29, more pleasant even than my hot VV-3N37 124gr XTP loads out of my G19. I also think it should be plenty for anything I am likely to shoot.

Buffalo bore 200gr. @1200 fps are as accurate of a load as I've tested and that is about the same power level your 180s are at +/-. These loads will group center of aim <1" @ 25y from a bench - in fact it would be interesting to see how they perform with a ransom rest as I suspect they are as accurate of a load as I have ever fired from my gun.

My hot load is 135grain nosler at 1700 fps and those group very tight - also center poa - this is my carry load - these are outstanding, even if they may not go through 2x4s and drywall...
