Yes, apparently there is such a thing:

"Copper framed 1911 custom with colt slide! 1 of 50 [on GunBroker]" (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=294638950)

I read a lot of the gun magazines back in the day, but I have to admit I missed the memo on this one.

All it needs is a damascus slide.

"Safari Arms". Enough said.

I thought I recognized that stupid finger groove looking thing.

Th guys who made them probably have beryllium poisoning now.

Believe it or not, BeCu actually can be hardened to match some of the tougher steels. Certainly more than aluminum.

Wasn't it Charter Arms that used to advertise they used an "unbreakable Beryllium Copper" firing pin?

When I was stationed in the UK, some poor kid decided to touch up a chipped beryllium screw driver on the bench grinder. After a Hazmat team scrubbed us up clean & gave us new clothes, we all ended up at the hospital for testing while Hazmat cleaned up our building. Got 3 days off while our building was being scrubbed.

I was just about to say this. Beryllium isn't something you want to be holding on to all the time.

My favorite golf club is a 56 degree wedge made out of beryllium copper.

That is not a new concept.
There were some prototype 1911's made from a bronze type alloy back during WWII.

My favorite golf club is a 56 degree wedge made out of beryllium copper.

Is it the head of the club or the handle that is made of it?

Yes, tell us, "is the important part the head or the shaft?"

You've had enough reacharounds. You tell us.

Very telling that my simple question brought that to your mind immediately:therapy:

Me neither, but look on the 'bright' side: It's solid Be-Cu.

When I was stationed in the Pugent Sound area back in the 80's I made several visits to Olympic Arms and a BeCU framed 1911 pistol was one the various rare items that I saw. Also saw one in Ti.

Pretty cool except the finger grooves did not match my hand.
