Hey everyone, a month or so ago I decided on a new Ruger MkIII for a good high volume shooting .22 pistol. When I got it though, I was not a huge fan of the grips that came with it. they felt cheap and were black plastic with aggressive checkering. I couldn't find what I wanted after searching around so I called Ruger, and they had exactly what I was looking for but it was not listed on their website with the other grips. I ordered a set sight unseen, and couldn't be happier with the results.

Here they are, before:

And after:

They feel much more comfortable than the others also. All told, I've now got $350 into this little gun. It ate an entire box of WWB 555 .22 ammo without a single hiccup so I've been extremely satisfied. The take down isn't near as hard as some make it out to be either.

I just replaced the factory grips on my stainless MK III (60th Anniversary) with a set of Hogue grips. http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n487/bdalrymple/IMAG0380.jpgThey're not as nice looking but they are very comfortable and they are on sale at Midway. BTW your grips look great!

OK, that looks like a first issue Ruger Standard with the red, grip emblem[BEFORE Sturm's death].

What makes that a Mark III? - an anniversary reproduction or something? You know them tricky Ruger folks.

OK, I get it now - the current updated version of the original Standard offered in 1949 for $37.50 for ONLY...... $379.

Rip Van Winkle going back to sleep now.

Yep, purdy grips.
