View Full Version : Which gun(s) do you regret selling the most?

07-11-2012, 21:20
Only gun I ever sold was a 2nd gen Glock19 and even though I was more than happy with its replacement, I sometimes wish I held on to it cause it never failed once after 1100 rounds. My father's biggest regret is the 6" Stainless Colt Python he sold many years ago.

What is yours?

07-11-2012, 21:29
Kahr K9. I am now looking for a Kahr MK9, but probably wouldn't be if I still had the K9.

07-11-2012, 21:29
-Marlin camp 9 (purchased new) then sold.
-G30 (got another one since).
-Beretta PX4 storm (will be replacing soon).
-Sig 229 .40 (want to replace with a 229 scorpion).

07-11-2012, 21:37
I've only sold three in my life... I sold a GP-100 which my Dad bought back for me several years later, sold a 700 ADL 7mm mag which I sold with no regret, and I sold a pristine 700 BDL 30-06... The BDL '06 I shoulda kept because it was dirt cheap and perfect from a desperate seller, and I sold cause my car needed tires.. woulda coulda shoulda..

07-11-2012, 22:06
German proofed SP2022 9mm. Best shooting gun I ever owned.

07-11-2012, 22:19
I didn't sell it but it was stolen from me by a family memberand given away, while I was in the Navy.

1886 lever action Winchester .33 caliber. Came from a Mormon family when they settled Salt Lake city.

I am still so Pi**ed about this................

07-11-2012, 22:20

Sig p229 in .357 sig.
beretta model 96

07-12-2012, 02:07
Only one, a minty W. German P228. Will get another someday. Everything else I sold was because I just didn't care for the gun.

Oh, one more, a first gen 22/45. Wouldn't mind having that one back.

07-12-2012, 03:30
None. Everything I ever sold was carefully calculated and either sold for profit or because I did not like it. Fortunately I have never had to sell anything against my will.

Freedom Arms Premier Grade revolver.

Of course, I've bought another since though. ;)

07-12-2012, 04:39
Springfield M-1A
Ruger No.1A in 7x57

But damn, I really needed the money.

07-12-2012, 04:48
The only one I've sold (and there's been a bunch) and wouldn't mind having back was the Ruger SP101. Great little revolver.

07-12-2012, 05:18
Nazi-proofed Belgian-made Browning High Power.
Belgian-made Browning BAR in .308.

I'd like to have those two back.

07-12-2012, 05:21
One of my Sig Sauer P226s. I still don't know why I agreed to let it go.

07-12-2012, 05:35
i sold a 4 inch colt diamond back that i kick myself for everyday.

07-12-2012, 05:46
2nd Generation Glock 21 and Ruger .45 Blackhawk with .45ACP conversion cylinder. I've since purchased a Glock 21sf.

07-12-2012, 05:50
I have never sold anything that wasn't readily replaceable, so I don't have particular regrets. The few pieces I have that are not I will never sell, unless I need to feed my kids.

07-12-2012, 05:52
As odd as it sounds, a Ruger P95.

07-12-2012, 06:32
For me it was my Ruger Super Redhawk.
I was injured on the job, my wife was involved in a car accident and 6 months pregnant at the time. So neither one of us was able to work. Did what we could, sold all of my guns and the Ruger was the last one I let go of.

Colt Series 70 Model 1911 .45 ACP

H&R Sportsman 999 with 4" barrel

07-12-2012, 07:12
A Winchester Model 12, 28" barrel, modified with a wide vented rib.

07-12-2012, 07:14
All of them....wish I had every one I owned over the years. Being from Ohio they were all shotty's...but I had some dandy's. Mostly 1100's...870 Wingmasters a few 11-87 premiers...and a Winchester Model 12. Once I got into bowhunting...I did less and less upland game hunting...and the shotguns began to go. So did most of the game due to coyote and the lack of land due to development.
Only have one shotty now...and that's an express....hardly the craftsmanship of my early 80's Wingmasters...1100's...and premiers. The rest of my guns I have managed to hang on to...so I can't say that it's all that bad.

07-12-2012, 07:44
"Old School" Colt Combat Commander.
S&W K-frame rear sight 'let into the slide. Red ramp front sight, throated barrel (would feed/shoot anything!), crisp 4 lb trigger.

Ruger Super Blackhawk... It wasn't practical for me, but I do miss it.

07-12-2012, 13:02
Smith & Wesson 4566. I should have kept it. Traded it for an xD and then traded that for a P6.

My G26 :( perfect gun.

07-12-2012, 13:24
Several guns that I let go simply to fund other projects.... HK P7M13, HK P7K3, HK P9S, but I really regret letting go of a Bren Ten Marksman Special Match .45acp it had the box, papers, 3 working mags....a really cool gun.

Edit: The one that I truly regret the most, I went through the Police Academy with a S&W 686, I was going to be carrying an auto at the department I was going to work for and I had to sell it to make a car payment while I was waiting to start work. I know I can never get that one back, but I think I am going to go on the search for one from the same circa 1983 manufacture.

Winchester 1300 20 gauge shotgun. It was the first gun my Dad ever bought me. Sure wish I had kept it around for sentimental reasons.

07-12-2012, 17:36
Spectre 9mm made by American Arms

07-12-2012, 17:49
A Makarov. I bought it new in '94 for $160, ammo was $4.50 a box. Sold it for $300 in '08(with 3 extra mags and 2 holsters) because ammo was $14.50 a box. I did replace it with a Gen 3 19 but I do still miss that Mak!

07-12-2012, 17:52
My first rifle, a Remington single shot .22. I almost bought another one about a year ago. Really have no use for it though.

07-12-2012, 18:11
Smith and Wesson 625 and a Browning Gold Fusion 12 gauge. I still have a 20 but should have kept the 12 too. I wish my Dad would've kept his nickel Python.

I agree with this!

I don't generally care. They are all just objects, that don't carry on with you, when you die. Like anything else, women, cars, cash and fine booze. Enjoy what you get to play with at whatever given moment and never look back in sorrow.

07-12-2012, 21:17
None of em being I have every gun that I've ever bought or had given to me. One that I will never let go is my 1864 US Springfield .58 caliber muzzle reloader that escaped becoming modified to a trap door style, all original.

07-12-2012, 22:02
CZ-75B. Probably the only gun I regret selling.

07-12-2012, 23:13
my HK USP .45 tactical.... needed the money, couldnt live in an HK

07-13-2012, 06:20
There are quite a few I wish I still had. My Weatherby rifles, Colt Gold Cup, S&W 581, Desert Eagle and a Colt SP-1 are the ones that come to my mind without dwelling on it. I'll probably replace most of them in time. For this reason I'm now very reluctant to let any go.

Kahr K9. I am now looking for a Kahr MK9, but probably wouldn't be if I still had the K9.

If you want another K9, I just saw a used blued K9 for $425 on buds classifieds.

I did not spend much time looking at it but it seems to be a preety good price.

I actually regret not buying quite a few guns as well. :crying:

I am with you on this, I passed on some great deals in my time.

I have only regretted selling my childhood Marlin Model 60 that my dad bought me, all the other guns I have sold and traded could be easily replaced.

My Glock 7! It cost more than you make in a month.:tongueout:

07-13-2012, 21:22
I have two that I really wish I never would have sold

2007 model Wilson CQB compact less than 100 rounds fired and my unfired Colt Delta Elite stainless.

07-13-2012, 23:50
I also regret none! I have ought and sold a lot to build a nice collection and each sold was a calculated move up!

07-14-2012, 04:45
None really when they got sold I sold them on purpose to get RID of them to either make $$ for something I wanted more OR to trade directly for/on something I wanted more..the only 2 regrets I have are selling 2 of them too early one was a Colt Mustang II that I bought for around $250-300 in around 1996/97 or there abouts wish id waited till it was worth more to get rid of it..same deal with my Ruger mini 14...got a good trade for it but id gotten several factory 30 round magazines with it when I bought it back in the mid 1980's...Didnt mind seeing the rifle go so much as its pretty much just a "range toy" here in PA and at the time I wanted a nice shotgun so it got traded for a Remington 1187...but I DO regret not waiting a few years then unloading those factory mags for a MINT!

I dont miss a single gun ive ever sold though...If I was gonna miss it id never have sold it in the first place...

07-14-2012, 08:13
Two guns:

1. A Remington 552 .22lr semi-auto rifle. Sold it when I was in college. Reason: I was an idiot.

2. S&W 686, 6" barrel, bought brand new in 1984. First centerfire pistol I ever bought. Sold it a year and a half later. Reason: To pay for an engagement ring. I miss the revolver but do not regret the reason for which I sold it.

07-14-2012, 11:14

What is yours?
Gen 4 G17 and S&W 629-6 .44 mag. I filled the G17 void , and bought another one and then bought a Ruger Alaskan with I think a 2.5" barrel as a partial attempt to fill my self imposed void.

Only sold three guns in my lifetime. One I regretted selling was that 98 Mauser that I sold back in the 60's.

The other two I was very glad to be rid of including that stupid 22/410 combo thing.

09-19-2012, 22:24
Hands down my Gen 2 G21, bought in 1992 and sold in Aug 2010. Never missed a beat in all those years. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Winchester Model 12 and a Colt Woodsman .22 sold for college tuition money.
Colt 'Detective Special' .38 revolver.

09-20-2012, 09:39
I had an H&K USP40 I stupidly sold because it wouldn't cycle wolf ammo.

It was a beautiful pistol, and I probably could have just sent it back to H&K to have them fix it, but I was young and impatient all those years ago.

09-20-2012, 11:23
Only one, a minty W. German P228. Will get another someday. Everything else I sold was because I just didn't care for the gun.

Oh, one more, a first gen 22/45. Wouldn't mind having that one back.

Well, I've replaced the 22/45 with a 22/45 MKIII with a blank steel LCI slot filler and full set of Volquartsen internals (including MKII parts to get rid of the stupid magazine disconnect safety).

Also picked up a nice W. German Sig P228 CPO, which will be back from the Sig custom shop this afternoon.

Life is good

09-20-2012, 12:59
My HK USP .45 comes to mind. But I sold it to help fund my LMT 10.5" SBR and can, so I'll be ok. Might pick up a USP .45 tactical and a .45 Osprey later.

09-20-2012, 13:09
I sold a Saiga .308, lots of punch, totally reliable. Sold it, dumb move.

Replaced it with a 6.5mm Grendel that I didn't like nearly as much. Grendel was one of the very earliest ones, WAY too heavy. Got rid of it. Don

S&W 3906 for sure. It was the sweetest shooting 9mm I've ever owned, and that includes a couple Hi Powers and a few others that are supposed to be "better". I'm still not sure why I sold it.
