Well at 11:15am eastern time, I will be at the hospital, getting checked in for my surgery.

Surgery, Left Shoulder Total Joint Replacement, is set for 1:15 pm.

I will let the OAF bunch know how it went, when I can.

If by chance I don't make it out of this, you guys are the best.:wavey:

Good on ya for getting it taken care of!

I put my torn labrum off for years. As a consequence, my over all health declined, I gained 40 pounds and felt like crap!

I finally went in right after turkey day last year, did all the rehab, lost the 40 lbs, walking upright and can reach into the back seat of the car with zero pain!

Good luck and do ALL of your rehab~

That can't be "simple".

Well, I have been home for a few days. Doing well, get staples out next Thursday and then can start rehab. Pain in the joint is gone, just have some incision site pain but the Oxycontin and Percocet have taken care of that. Am wearing a sling that restricts movement but I can take it off if I am just sitting and don't move the shoulder, but I can move my lower arm to keep it from getting stiff.
Thanks everyone, for the good thoughts....:wavey:

Glad it is going well. When you're up to it tell us all about it. I've never heard of shoulder replacement surgery. Are you sure they did the right joint?

Any cute nurses? Guard your pain meds, Oxy is what they hold up pharmacies for. Don't let the time it takes to heal discourage you, and no matter what, avoid watching the news! It'll only depress you.:milestone:

Yep, they did the correct shoulder. Paul53, think of the shoulder as a ball and socket joint.

The socket is the shoulder and the ball is the arm. They removed both and replaced them with a Plastic socket, glued and screwed to the shoulder and a Titanium ball on the end of my arm, drill hole in end of bone, drive the ball joint into the bone, glue/screw it in place. Don't know if all of that is correct but you get the idea...:wavey:

I always have to wonder a bit about people comparing things to sex. :dunno:That comes from those of us who have been doing it for a while. Eventually it either becomes the same old in out in out, or you become a fetish model.

Glad the surgery went well, Dinky. The shoulder is a pretty complex thing, and it sounds like you had a great surgical team on your side.

Dinky, glad you're doing well. Now that you're bionic, start planning how you want to handle metal detectors at airports, court houses, porn shops, etc.

I tried to slide through airport security without mentioning my titanium knee. Didn't go well. Ever get a colonoscopy in public? That's what it felt like. At least I got groped a lot. Closest thing to sex I've had in a long time. Woulda been better if they were women, but sometimes you take what you can get.

A good story always helps. Start working on one now. Told em I broke my knee bailing out of my stealth fighter over Baghdad. Admitting to a motorcycle accident just doesn't have the same gusto.

No reason why you shouldn't get as much entertainment out of the new shoulder as possible. You've earned it.
