So I went to my gun shop to see if they had the M&P9C in stock as I've been wanting one. They didn't have any but they did have some nice 1911s that caught my eye including the Ruger SR1911. It's a lot of gun for the price IMO and is built pretty well. I put 200 dollars down on one and should be picking it up in a few weeks. My gun store had it priced at $695 which from the research I gathered sounds about right. If anyone has this particular 1911 let me know how you like it.

Very good gun for the money & makes a great base gun to build off.

Love mine. I agree it's awesome for the price range. They have been easy to find around here since day one.

I have one. Been shooting it for about a year in Wild Bunch matches. Only mod to it was the ambi safety. I am left handed. Another guy was running one and having problems. It was miss feeding. He got rid of the MecGar magazines and problem fixed.

Went to Sportsman's Warehouse today looking at 45s. The guy at the gun counter pointed me toward the Ruger 1911 but I've been eye balling a Sig. After reading a little about them I think I need to go back and check out the Ruger.

very impressive sir. Got a question. How do you set your overtravel screw. No matter how much I turn it feels the same. Btw this is on my STI ranger II with wilson combat flat trigger.

Veedubklown

Screw it in until your trigger doesn't work anymore, then back it off a 3/4 to a turn. Once you know where you adjustment is, remove the screw, apply a tiny bit of blue loctite, then re-adjust.

lsbbigdog

is the set screw isn't stripped?

TxGlock9
07-19-2012, 09:14
You you the set screw isn't stripped?

Nope. I should've worded it differently. What I meant to say is the screw is very loosely fit. I would have no choice but to loctite it in place.

I tried to buy a ruger 1911 today, but they were sold out!! The gun store around here is having ruger reps at it this weekend. They brought 30 of them and were sold out within an hour.

Liked mine so much now I have two, bought four days apart from two different LGS. Gotta have one for each hand (what I told my wife). I am going to keep one NIB since I have another one to shoot.

Also make sure that the sear fully clears the half cock notch on the hammer. Hold the trigger fully rearward while slowly thumbing down the hammer. If you feel a slight bump on the way down, that is the half cock notch hitting the sear. Adjust the trigger stop screw until you can no longer feel it bump the half cock notch. The hammer should fall totally free down to the firing pin to avoid light primer strikes.

The rugers look nice, but I wish they made them full stainless. I don't like the blued parts on a stainless gun. A full blued or parkerized version would be nice too.

Put one of these on layaway today. Already have some plans for it when I pick it up. My Delta is at the gun shop for ambi-safety, night sights and trigger job right now. I'll probably have the same stuff done to the Ruger when I get it. I may have the grip safety and slide lock changed out for stainless but not sure yet.

Can't believe Alaska is getting something before anywhere in the lower 48. The gun counter manager at the local Sportsman's Warehouse was telling me today that every tore in the country got 3 of the Ruger SR1911s except for this store. This store got 19 and has been selling them like crazy. As soon as they came in everyone on the waiting list got one and they are down to just a couple left. For the price they are hard to beat.

A clerk at cabelas said theyve only sold 2 and they were special orders the people waited months for

I managed to pick it up sooner than I thought! The gun shop I got it from had 4 or 5 of these in stock on top of the display model so I took in an unmolested SR1911. I was told they were getting easier to find but sounds like that may not be entirely true.

Very nice. The one I put on layaway was still wrapped in the plastic when the clerk brought it out for me to inspect. My fingerprints are the only ones on the gun. Hope nobody decides to use it in a crime before I pick it up. Lol

Bought one in Feb. and it is 100% reliable. I replaced the stock grip panels with black rubber. IMHO the best bang for your buck for a 1911. Good luch with yours and I am sure you will love it.

They're not very smooth. Then again I was comparing it to a gun 5x the cost.

i love mine too, but i wouldnt expect to get one from a dealer within a 2 week time period....i may be wrong, but i looked for over a year until i found mine for $700...not one problem in about 250 rds of various ammo....going to put another 200 rds through it tomm....well, i did have one prob...the 7 rd mag that came with it does not eject fully....i have since bought 7 more 8 rd para mags and they spit out like they should....i still carry my glock 27, but that may change as the weather cools a little....good luck

If you found one for that price jump on it now. It took me over a year to find one & when I did it cost me apx $785.00 + shp etc. But I am happy with it it's a great 1911 gun.

I love mine. Will leave as is for know as I have other guns I plan on doing things to. 200 rds is all I've shot through it so far. Got lucky to get it. Was in Sportsmans Whorehouse and one of the salesman said he was going to get it. 4 days later I got a call from my gun buddy and the guy didn't have the funds and he would get them to hold it for me. HELL YA! So I went in the next day and got it. 699 plus tax. Not a great deal but not bad.

Ordered mine on 12/30/11 for $555.00+tax. Well 5 months and 6 days, later my Ruger SR1911 finally arrived. Picked it up 60/06/12.

Been enjoying it ever since. I get it out about twice a month, need to order a few more mag, and then I'm ready to run through an IDPA match.
