Good evening everyone,
I have been coming to this site for years and finally decided to sign up as a member. I have always enjoyed the insight and experiences that everyone shares here.

I just picked up an HK Mark 23 and Im on the way to the range to put it through its paces. I will post some pics when I am done.

I have to say that after handling this pistol for a while I am amazed a how well built it really is. Big, no doubt, but it is another exceptional product from HK.

Cant wait to make her go boom!!!

Harhar I had to read that twice. Fortunately someone else quoted you first so the white text popped a little better.

Enjoy your new cannon. 12+1 of 45 ACP ought to solve most of your handgun problems.

I feel like I used to see them for about $1600 used just a year ago. No longer, I'm afraid.

Not sure about that, but it is accurate.

I have several 1911s that will outshoot my Mark 23.

That may be true. But none of the 1911's say "I'm a bad@$$ uber Teutonic operator" as well the MK 23. And that's really what it is all about.

The MK 23 is a fantastic pistol and one of the finest pistols ever built!

And...

It's way too fat for my hands. :crying:

Congratulations!

The Desert Eagle is the only gun that I think beats the MK 23 for the fattest grip!

Still, It's a hoot to shoot!

Actually, the Mark 23's grip is the same thickness as a standard 45ACP USP.

awesome pistol, unfortunately too big for my hands. I've fired one with about 20 different types of ammo, factory & handloads, best shooting with all types. Might find 1 or 2 loads that a 1911 will prefer & shoot better, but the MK23 will eat ANYTHING & come back for more. The one I fired was tested with some +P+ .45 handloads, 185 gr @ 1250 fps, this is a 10MM equal load sportsfans ! And it shot it like it was match ammo !
Historic note: When the MK23 was concieved, it was as a PRIMARY weapon, able to multi task, replacing a carbine, also useful with a supressor.(supressors for the MK23 are made by Knight's Armarment under a mil. contract) And it was originally designed in 10MM cal. The armed forces comitee (JSSOP) decided AGAINST 10MM, not as a ballistic decision, but as it would have put another caliber in the pipeline for supply....not good. So the project was tweaked to use .45ACP, and some very special ammo requirements came about, but it still had the ability to use standard .45 hardball if the spec. purpose ammo wasn't avaliable or mission required.
I got to test-fire as part of an evaluation for a PD, they also were testing (and bought) the USP Tactical in .45

And for those that own a USP tactical in .45, the higher capacity MK23 mags fit it & function just fine !

my buddy bought one when he got back from a tour. it felt the same as my .45 USP tac grip wise, but it did feel definitely like a much larger gun.

Fired the Mark 23. Went through 200 rounds of federal 230 grain FMJ. No problems. I will need some practice with this one to tighten up my groups.

Owned one.

After the novelty wore off, I got rid of it. Too damned large for my smallish hands.

A good weapon, no doubt, but my HK Tactical .45 fills the void just fine.

Enjoy your monster. :)

I always thought the usp line was too fat for my hands till I shot one. Now they are my favorite pistols with 1911's right behind them. I love the Sa trigger on a 1911 but will outshoot my trp or valor with my usp tactical. I want to have a mk23 one day.... It'll look good with the other 7 hk's
