View Full Version : Picked up a Mauser M2 :)
For whatever reason, I've always wanted one of these for my collection. I like unusual pistols, so I broke my trend of buying classics earlier this year to pick it up for a mere $300. This is also my first gun purchase since buying a Ruger Blackhawk in March. Its in clean shape and came with the box and papers. Its chambered in 40S&W.
The Mauser M2 was built by Sigarms in the USA. Production started in 2001 and didn't continue very long. It uses a rotating locking barrel. What's interesting is the rear slide mounted safety, much like the HK P30. Like the Hi-Power, it can not be fired without the magazine in place. The M2 is a striker-fired pistol. Another interesting aspect of the M2 is the calibers it was chambered for. It came in 40S&W like this one, 357 Sig, and 45ACP. It was never chambered for 9mm.
The Mauser M2 is a compact sized, aluminum alloy framed pistol. Its not exactly pretty, but the Mauser logo looks great on a firearm, doesn't it? ;)
Anybody else have one?

Oh, tell me they are as wonderful as I was told before. I have had an eye out for one but I just filled one of the last slots on my "bucket list" a couple of days ago and I am already missing "the chase"

I've probably got quite a few pistols you've never heard of anyone owning. ;)
I haven't shot it yet, unfortunately.

Oh, I know. You're pretty much the king here when it comes to who has the most pistols.
Be sure to let us know what you think of it after you shoot it.

Will do

I've got a lot of weird stuff, actually. :embarassed:
I had one in 45ACP, once about 4-5 years ago. Interesting rotating barrel design.
It's a good conversation piece. I thought the trigger had too much pretravel in both single and double action. Long trigger pull too.
I've never heard of it until now! Nice gun! Now I'm interested in one.
Nice gun and congratulations!

Congrats. Let us know if its rotating barrel sucks up recoil like the PX4.

Thanks.
I was wondering that myself, actually.
Very nice - an interesting and unusual addition.

Congrats on the M2, bac! I've never seen one in-person. Looks very SIG-y, except for that lever all the way to the rear and the slide lock/takedown lever.
Interesting piece, for sure. Enjoy!

Yeah, they don't pop up all that often.
Wow, a single stack striker fired pistol in 40 S&W, 357Sig ,and 45ACP Made by a reputable company. Amazed sales didn't take off

Cool looking gun. I've seen a few floating around online and I've always wished I could find one locally to check out. Wish I could find a deal on one in .357 Sig.
If you search around on the internet there is a guy that recently within the last 2 years or so had his smith convert his 40 Mauser into a 10mm. I believe he was able to switch barrels so he can use the 40 and 10mm. God Bless :)
I don't remember them being especially expensive when they were introduced, either.
Somewhere I have an article on that gun in .45acp.
Congrats!
I think it looks good :).

Yeah, they were never a whole lot of money, Berto.

Thanks for the info.
One reason sales didn't take off was the safety on the rear end of the slide. Awkward to use & could be knocked either on or off accidentally.
Another reason is that it was a bastard child among the SIG lineup that didn't do anything any better than the SIG-branded pistols.

You may be a bit confused. :dunno:

Great looking pistol, except for the pregnant hump on the backstrap.
