Well I was told I wouldn't get it till December. But they called today and I picked it up!

That was a great surprise!

LOL regarding posting pictures. I see you learned an important lesson from the merciless pestering that USSOCOM received (http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1433365) to post pics.

Congrats, and have fun at the range.

Yeah it's a blue label. I wouldn't expect that the red label/white label will be available anytime soon.

Thanks guys I'm excited! Probably won't be able to see the range till next week..

On a side note what do you guys recommend for defense rounds in .45? I usually only carry 9mm

Hornady is a great choise for carry. I use them in all the glocks that I own. I only have one Gen 4 and it is a 22 that I use and it has worked perfectly the rest are gen 3.

Outdoor Hub mobile, the outdoor information engineI use Winchester Ranger 230gr in mine. Of course there are other choices that seem to be equally effective (Speer Gold Dot, Federal HST, Remington Golden Sabre). I think any modern hollow point ammo from a reputable company should be adequate. As long as the particular ammo functions well in your gun, you should be good to go.

I second the advice of Toby196 regarding the JHP of choice for 45ACP personal defense ammo in your G30.

Winchester Ranger-T 230gr JHP (SKU# RA45T), Federal HST 230gr +P JHP (SKU# P45HST1) or Speer Gold Dot 230gr JHP (SKU# 53966) are all excellent choices with a slight edge going to Win Ranger-T for best test results in penetration and expansion. As an aside note, Massad Ayoob loads Win Ranger-T 230gr JHP in his G30 CCW pistol.

One common theme in all the above recommended rounds is a 230gr bullet weight. I strongly suggest sticking with 230gr in 45ACP for a SD load.

Ok I put 50 rounds of blazer 230gr at the range today.. No failures but.. I do trigger reset and I noticed that the slide would sometimes not return fully to battery until I reset the trigger fully. Any tips on how to resolve the issue? I did not clean the gun after I bought it new. I have since clean everything and will take it out next week and try again.

Yeah I have narrowed it down to the HST and the Ranger T which ever I can locate first.

Question about gen 4s... Are the large grip add-ons the same diameter as the gen 3? Or is gen 3 == the middle size?

I have never held a gen 3 g30 an I haven't even bothered with putting the back straps on my gen4 30 because it feels great without them. I think it's just a little bigger than my gen 4 26 gip.

No backstrap = smaller then Gen 3 grip
Med backstrap = same size as Gen 3 grip
Lrg backstrap = larger then Gen 3 grip

Lucky you! That second photo of your hand around the topless frame makes the gun look absolutely HUGE. Ranger-T RA45T is the current go-to 230gr load. There is some decent Federal 45D (230gr Classic hollow point) available at many retailers that is priced nice (under $20 per 50). Boxed in the white government contract boxes. It's a .45, as mentioned before, any decent 230gr hollow point will get the job done. Enjoy it, Christmas came early for you!

Thanks. I have big hands and sometimes find myself shooting with the crease of my index finger. But I still love my G30 regardless of the generation.

OP, congrats on the Gen 4, I'm envious.

the first two rounds are .40S&W hornadys, and the rest are .45's Ranger T, HST, Speer Gold Dot, and a Winchester JHP,

What has happened to the FTRB when shooting from Reset,
This is the same exact problem that my older G30SF from 2010 had that Glock INC was able to duplicate and replaced with a pistol that i traded off because I was still upset.
I also just bought a G30 Gen4. and now hearing about this shooting from reset problem is very very upsetting.

Congrats on the new G30! Good to see that it's running well for you.

SGT45, I'm only missing one GAP for my collection (G38) but I'll be waiting for the Gen4 model. The other two are just fine.

Nope, but I don't know why people complain so much about the width. I am 5'9" 170 and I can fully conceal it and it is very comfortable in my crossbreed IWB.

Looked at the Gen 4 30 a month ago but passed on it to pick up an AR but did go back and buy one a couple of days ago. Interested to hear more if any problems. Plan on running Ranger in it. Not had a chance to run to the range to test it out yet but plan to soon. Will have to keep and eye on the trigger reset problem talked about. This will replace a Gen 4 27 for EDC

Glock sent me a new recoil spring and the problem was solved gun has been 100% but it does have erratic ejection. I am going to run Federal HST I will give a report when I get a chance to test some of it.
