Must have!

They're great pistols. I have a 70 with a steel frame (pictured) and a 73 Jaguar with a longer barrel and aluminum frame.

Did you change the left grip to get rid of the thumb rest or did the adjustable sight and "target" (serrated) trigger get enough import points that a thumb rest was not needed to get it in?

I can't decide if I'd rather have one like yours with lever safety and adjustable sight or an earlier one with crossbolt safety and fixed sight.

I wouldn't mess up a vintage firearm in mint condition, but that would be cool.

They are great pistols.

You should pick one up, Bruce. They sell for very reasonable prices.

I keep telling myself that I'm not in the market for more firearms...but every now and then I come across something that I 'really need'. Most recently, it was an unfired, 30 year old Ruger Super Blackhawk 7.5". This thread has made me realize that I 'really need' a Beretta model 70.

BTW...here's a link to a very interesting article about this fine pistol:

I was shopping for a semi-auto "kit gun" a few years ago to add to my battery and I came across a Jaguar at a gun show. Some Bubba had polished off the finish on the frame so I got it dirt cheap, which was fine for my purpose

Seen here with a couple of inexpensice "fun guns" (Harrington and Richardson .22 short, HighStandard "sentinel" variant)

Its amazing what some people do to their guns.

Well I went to that gunshow hoping to find something around $200 for a "Throw in the hunting coat" .22. Walking out with that for $140 let me buy a lot of .22 ammo at the prices back then.

That High Standard is a pain in my behind though. a great shooter but 12" high at 25yds. If you know the sight system you know what a pain it would be to "Fix". It was about $125 so I may give it a try

I guess its hard to argue with that price.
