I figure now is the time to buy. My only dilemma is $$. I do have a HK USP Tactical that I could part with to help with the cost. I never shoot the HK and I guess i'm just a little worried that AR's may disappear or go up in cost. I'm torn. Thoughts?

Obama couldn't get any support back in April 2009 for an assault weapons ban when the Dems had complete control of Congress. He couldn't get any support for a gun ban when Hillary lied about US guns & Mexican gun crime. Obama couldn't get a ban when Gabby was shot.

The GOP will control Congress come Nov even if Obama wins. There's no gun bans in our future. Obama's comments lately are merely pandering to his left wing base.

While there IS a run on guns in Colorado, I doubt we'll see the price gouging across the country like we did when Obama was elected. Doesn't seem to be a shortage of guns right now.

Thanks for the response. Informative to say the least.

My LGS is pushing AR's like no other, but thats their job. Guess I was just looking for both sides of the story.

Still don't know if I should ditch the HK...

If Romney wins I suspect there will be a huge glut of firearms on the market next year and prices will be VERY attractive. That's an open question though at this point.

Yeah, that has me conflicted. I don't think either candidate represents my moderate views. Obama is left, Romney is both far left and far right.
Romney is not good for anybody but the upper tier in $. So as a middle class chump, I'm conflicted. I want an AR ;).

That's when we'll really need our guns because I don't see us going down without a fight. We are not Australia or Great Britain! WE ARE AMERICA!!!:patriot:

Psstt...I heard from my cousin's husband's brother's sister-in-law that the UN bill will pass and the Blue Helmets are coming.

I have a sweet ass MAK-90 with pistol grip conversion for sales for ONE MILLION DOLLARS. Want it? Better get it before Obama/UN gets it. I'd even throw in twenty banana clips for free.

I have one, and it is good. I only have one AR, and I only wanted one AR, so I thought why not get the best. I have had no problems with the gun itself. Not a huge fan of the genre, but it runs like a champ.

Whenever I see or hear the UN story about some worldwide gun control all I have to do is look at the un-armed "peace keepers" in Syria or wherever and feel a sigh of relief.

Hopefully if they do try something they will start in Palestine or Somalia and see that it ain't gonna work!

Prices on guns just like everything else will continue to rise. Right now WM has the 6920 LE M4 for under $1100 and think it was SGArms has them even cheaper. Buy now or just pay a bit more later.

Least get some magazines for one. At the least I can see a restriction on those one day again.

You said "now is the time to buy"
Then you said "I'm a little worried that AR may disappear or go up in cost". I'm torn.

What are you torn about? I think you just answer your own question from the above statements. Now really is the time to buy, don't worry about $$ you can make more later, go get one now and put it on your credit card and don't look back.

PS. Don't get too wrap up on what's gonna happen in November or what politicians have to say. You want a Colt 6920, please go get one today. And don't forget to take some pictures.

You never shoot your HK???!!??

Well then, I say, sell it and get the Colt IF you'll shoot it. If it is just to have and to hold, maybe not.

Personally, I'd look around to see what other things I could sell off in the garage or basement or wherever that have some value and that I no longer use or really want before I'd part with the HK. Old bikes, tools, household appliances, car parts, etc that are just gathering dust and might bring in a buck or three.

Does your LGS do layaway?

I traded off a USP Custom Combat .40S&W for an AR15 not that long ago.

The best pistol in the world is a piece of garbage compared to a mid range AR. If you don't shoot it and aren't attached to it, go for it.

Prices for the 6920 are about as low as you will see them. I'm adding one just to squirrel away for when my kiddo gets older or "just because." Dropping daily lattes and bought lunches paid for this one. :)

Don't worry about any government intervention. Anything related to restricting AR's won't happen for quite some time. You have at least 9 months.

No way I would sell the HK. Buy the Colt without selling the HK. Use a CC if you have to. Then suppress the HK and ar15 and add a shotgun and you have a class act trio.

I sure would like to pick up another Colt AR. Rather have the 6940P with it's piston system but at close to two thousand a little out of my price range. My local Wal-Mart has the 6920 and if they have lay-a-way for firearms this coming Christmas I may get one.

My 2 cents, the price they were maybe a few month ago was probably the cheapest prices for a 6920 you can find. After the Batman movie shooting I think the panic officially began. You can still get them for a decent price, but that price is starting to go up.

My guess is going to be a gun panic leading up to the election similar to 2008. If Romney wins it will peter out by 2013 after the threats of race riots and Mayan doomsdays end. If Obama wins it will be like Gas prices. We may never see $1.50 a gallon for gas or $1,200 or less for an AR ever again.

Personally I would buy it now if you already have a safe queen for trade and cash on hand. If you don't have the money, roll the dice and see how the election pans out.

How much do you think you'd miss a gun you admittedly dont shoot too much. As long as your selling and or trading a gun for another gun you want more and your not being forced into it because of financial reasons(meaning you dont have to sell or trade a favorite gun because your forced to to pay the electric bill...thats a whole different story then) I say DO SO...I have sold and traded many guns..often thats the only way I can afford to get a gun...

I dont budget for guns more than $400 a year and I dont have any other way to "save"(unless I wanted to work overtime and I hate working OT..I get maybe 8 hours a year when they FORCE me to) for one as I dont give myself a allowance or work over time to afford them either(my time with family is far more important to me than sitting at work to make $200 extra a shift to buy something) so I often trade or sell what I have and may not use as much to fund a gun I want more.

And as such ive NEVER missed a gun I sold or traded to get something I wanted more..

Congrats(should have read the whole thread :) I am glad you did it! I dont have the $$ to get a whole AR BUT ive been thinking of getting parts when they are on sale to build my own..And right now I really dont have anything left to trade that id part with except maybe one of those Dan Wesson revolvers when I get the one I have on layaway next month..but then lets face it thats not a ton towards a AR lol not like the HK would have been.

The Colt 6920 is a "best buy" on a "real deal" AR. I can't see how you could ever go wrong buying one at this time. If you don't need it down the road, someone else will, and the resale will be very good.
Congrats on your carbine.

The best pistol in the world is a piece of junk when there's a good rifle in arm's reach.

But, even with that said, I'd try to keep the HK and buy the AR. I think you did this. I skimmed through the thread.

1. You obviously aren't in love with that HK to even consider selling it. It obviously fills no critical role for you either.
2. The Colt (unless you don't take care of it) will never go down in value. I've never regretted buying a Colt AR but have regretted many others thinking of them in comparison.
3. Every time I sold a Colt rifle to finance something else I ended up regretting it. Of course I've always made money selling them also. Finally I have to have one but I wouldn't sell it regardless. Guess what it is? The exact model you are asking about.
