Average Americans don't need assault weapons

But you do not need an AK-47.

they know so much:rofl:

Another clueless liberal that thinks crime can be controlled by controlling guns. Actually punishing criminals will be more to control crime than a stack of gun control laws that reaches the moon. As soon as going to jail becomes a bad thing again the crime rates will fall.

Just my opinion.

The average American has one testicle and one ovary too.

The average American doesn't need a 3000 sq foot McMansion.

Fortunately in a free country, I get to decide what I need, I'm not limited to the lowest common denominator of what the "average" person needs, or thinks they need. I get to choose, based on my circumstances, what I want. Not what someone else thinks I need.

Freedom is great. Until someone is free to do something someone else doesn't approve of.

No sympathy for the board that generally supports a ban on texting-while-driving, DUI 'checkpoints', etc, and draw no connection between a government thus empowered and that same government disarming the citizenry.

Yeah, I know, "there's no 'Constitutional right' to drive", lmao.

May every 'American' who has voted to ban or regulate something or other suffer the tentacles of the Leviathian he helped create.

The "average american" doesn't need a car that exceeds 80 MPH. NO one is willing to touch that one, despite the fact that auto deaths (in this country) far exceed shooting deaths.

Most Americans don't need leftist twats in the media either.

My first though when seeing the thread title, though not so abrasive. :embarassed:

Remember what George Carlin said about the "average" American.

"Think how dumb the average American is, and then realize that half of us, are even dumber than that."

A theory that was proven in fact in 2008.

Seriously? Texting while driving is more analogous to firing your AK-47 down the highway at rush hour. Nice try.

liberal DO NOT recognize responsibility!

Oh, you got pregnant and dont want it? here, go get an abortion...then continue ho'ing yourself out.

It's not fair that someone else is doing better than you, here is a participation trophy.

Someone else is making more money than you are, here is your welfare check/foodstamps/"free healthcare". why should you put forth any effort to better your life?

Go out and shoot up a movie theater? it's not your fault, it's the evil guns! We need to take them all away so these shootings will end.....

Life is analog, not digital.

You're smart enough to recognize the difference between crime and pre-crime, ie: committing an act of violence against another's life, liberty, or property vs. owning an object that 'may' be used in such a crime.

The analogy is inapt.

What is inept, and unapologeticly so, is our ability to stuff all the guns back into pandora's box. They are out there. There is no reversing that.

I wish there was a way to keep guns out of the hands of the guys that are crazy enough to hurt others in mass at random, but that can never happen, not with a million new gun laws. The guy that is a secret service agent today, may be a nutcase in 3 years.

Best bet at this point is to arm as many people as possible that are willing, because we do still outnumber the nuts.

Then why is possession of child porn a crime, when the person holding it has not molested a child, yet?

Randy

This says it for me. The CNN or MSNBC editorial writer has no authority to decide what an American needs. As Randy says, I get to choose what I want. And what I want is limited by WHAT I'M WILLING TO WORK FOR AND PAY FOR, not what some liberal knucklehead thinks society needs.

When people say something this stupid, and you point out the obvious, they either argue as if they didn't hear you or look at you with the deer in the headlights blank stare of stupidity.

He is right. The average American doesn't need an assault weapon. Want and need are two completely seperate things.

The average American needs a handgun.

The American who isn't into target shooting or hunting doesn't need an assault type weapon. But every American needs the right to reasonably defend themselves.

I've tried to discuss this point with my ultra liberal friends and they simply don't get it. You fight fire with fire.

Imagine when the Colorado shooter entered the theater EVERY person in their was 1) armed and 2) trained.

Think he would have gone in there? The trained part is key since I don't want a theater full of people shooting each other.

Let's put it another way...instead of a theater full of civilians it was instead a theater full of armed military personnel?

I'm amazed people who live in this country and enjoy all the freedoms we have forget the simple truth: this country was started with the business end of a gun.

But, we also arrest people who meet with 25 year old female FBI agents, who think they are meeting with a 15 year old girl to have sex with her.

But, there never was any 15 year old girl, just a really young looking agent.

Stop buying into their logic and vernacular. An AR or AK is no more an assault weapon than a pistol/revolver is. Assault is committed by a person, not an inanimate object.

I am so confused about this freedom of choice stuff.
Let me see if I understand this...

Do I need an AK47? .....no
Do I want an AK47? .....yes

Do I need an abortion? .....no
Do I want an abortion? .....yes

Should I have the freedom of choice to own a AK47?
The liberals think not because I may kill someone.

Should I have the freedom of choice to get an abortion?
The libs say yes - because it is a freedom choice issue and does not kill anyone like an Ak47 does. Or does it?

Well I guess I still don't understand this freedom of choice stuff.

But, there never was any 15 year old girl, just a really young looking agent. We also arrest people who pay undercover cops to murder their spouses.

There never was any hitman, just a cop pretending to be a hitman.

I don't need a bunch of guns, a BMW, a Corvette, or air conditioning. I have them because I enjoy them and can afford to have them. They only differ in that I have a RIGHT to own the guns.

samurairabbi

The 1994 Federal Ban defined in great detail what constitutes a "semi-automatic assault weapon". For ten years, no such weapon was produced for legal civilian purchase. I still own NO SUCH weapon, but there are those who would believe that I do own such firearms. The IDEA of such a weapon, not the REALITY of such a weapon, is the political target of the anti-assault-weapon people; it is easy to constantly target an idea despite the pesky intrusion of reality.

I agree.

I don't buy into their logic - believe me.

Bought my first AK about a month ago...showed it to my dad (a vet) and my two brothers...good god you would have thought I showed them a severed head.

Why do you need that!? I said I don't need it...I want it; but I also pointed out how many times in history wants suddenly become needs.

I have a year of stockpiled food I rotate and use with our normal daily meals. I don't need it...there is a grocery store less than 3 miles away.

But things keep going the way they are....well, I have a feeling two brothers may be knocking at my door.

To me an AK or AR is simply a rifle.

CNN and the rest of the monkeys of the lamestram media are so far disconnected from reality that have no clue what an average American is or what they're about.
