Need to pick up a set of BDU's before long and I've got a choice between the 5.11's and Tru-Spec 24/7's. My biggest concern is how long they resist fading and overall quality of the construction. I find most of Tru-Spec's stuff to be junk, but I've got a pair of their 24/7 pants that have held up well.

Preferences/opinions?

The 5.11s have held up much better than my Tru specs. Their new pdu line is the shiz. Although the sizing is very goofy.

Love my TDUs. Almost 2 years on, no fading to speak of whatsoever. I think you'll like them.

No experience on the 5.11s, but several guys at work use the Tru-spec pants. They seem to fade pretty badly; I stick with the 5.11 Taclites.

Thanks for the info guys! The 24/7 pants I have are coyote tan and get used for range an hiking. They've held up well, but I never really paid much attention to the fading.

5.11's Taclite stuff seems like a great option for summer wear.

Spent all day at the range with my 5.11 TacLites. Love them. No experience with the TRu-Spec

The 5.11's have never let me down.

I have 5.11 TDUs for work (Brown) and they fade worse than any pants I have seen. It seems like after you wash them a few times, they look a year old. Ironically our sheriff approved the 24/7s yesterday and I will be trying those out(they are also way cheaper). I have more pairs of the Blauer Street gear than anything, I kinda like them (but they are too big so they look kinda baggy (to me, everyone else says they look fine).

I use Woolite Dark Laundry to avoid fading.

My problem is the 5.11's are HOT! Layers of thick material. They are not wearable for me in the SE.

Not issued the Tru-spec so cant comment.

I wear my 100% polyester uniform vs the 5.11 because the 5.11's dont breathe and absorb sweat and hold it.
