Am I wrong in thinking that cast receivers are only made with stainless steel? In other words regular steel (I think its 4140) cannot be cast for guns. Am I all wet?

By the way, any opinions on the 1911 Desert Eagle in .45 acp?

Many manufacturers use cast carbon receivers.

Not a fan of the DE roll marks

Top of my head, the Remington R1 has a cast frame and it's carbon steel. So are the Filipino guns.

There are many carbon steel cast frames.

I like the DE 1911 quite a bit. Its in my guide below.

I believe there is more cast carbon 1911 than stainless. In my limited LGS gun fiddling, I prefer the DE 1911 over the R1 and the Ruger offerings. but it is hard to beat a Springfield 1911 in the same price range. Good luck.
