The real question is why are they allowed to? Patriot Act.

This group of elected representatives are woefully feeble.
They can only think of ways to control us and therefore they justify their violations of our rights.

This government recognizes no limits on its power. None. If they aren't doing something to us, it's because it doesn't suit them to do it just now. If they decide they're going to round up Americans and force them into concentration camps (like they've done in the past) nothing will stop them.
