A Springfield Loaded, stainless.
It has everything I want, nothing I don't (except maybe the lefty safety, which may be deleted). I was initially looking at a Mil-Spec this go-round, but then found this one today at a very good price, brand new. Novak style 3-dots are not NS, but are otherwise perfect (the rear looks like polymer).
Some of you may remember my experience after buying a NIB Kimber Pro Carry II; after that first plunge into 1911s I did even more reading and decided a few things:
1. I needed a full-size 1911 for reliability and the target-type accuracy I desire
2. Steel frame was a must. Aluminum has no benefits in my mind, after my experience.
3. It's best (least expensive) to buy a pistol with all the features you want, as opposed to going through the time, money and stress of adding them yourself...especially with so many favors on the market.
I ran a box of ****ty Remington 230gr FMJRNs through her on the way home (gotta love friends with land). First impressions: first shot hit the 18"x18" steel from 25 yards with that awesome slow *thunk* of the ACP. It was so smooth, so deliberate, soft; easy. Three more times and I'm in love. Steady on a thin steel target at 45~ yards...BING.
Hit everything for the rest of the box, except started too fast on the draw the the last mag and outshot my front sight for three in that mag.
This is the 1911 for me. I knew I loved this platform.
What's the best way to swap the guide rod out to a normal one (the disassembly is a PITA), and who sells WC mags for the cheapest (if I buy like 5).
