Obama Campaign: 'Why The Hell Did Romney Pick This Guy?'

This evening, the Obama campaign sent out its most desperate fundraising email yet. Following in the footsteps of their other emails cursing out Americans (e.g. “Let’s win the damn election”), and tweets deriding Obamacare opponents as “mother*******ers,” now the Obama campaign is spluttering mad over the Paul Ryan pick by the Romney campaign. Here’s their email, titled “What’s behind the Paul Ryan pick?”:

The VP debates are going to be awesome. Ryan will chew up Biden and spit him out.

Be interesting to see if Ryan can keep up with Sununu as an attack dog.

after a illegal insider trading incident during 2008 and dumping all of the proceeds into goldman sachs account...ryan placed himself into a position to be black mailed. it's how the club works. OH YEEEE FOOLS!

Biden would probably get sympathy votes, because Ryan would appear to be picking on an elderly man suffering from senile dementia...which may be true.

Well they ain't stupid, just criminal. They know why Ryan was picked. They just aren't getting the amount of contributions they want. Implying Mitt is a felon and that he was responsible for a woman's death because her husband got laid off isn't working as well as they'd hope.

See t was easier to win the first time out when you didn't have to run on your record. Typical lawyer BS. Can't win case with facts, accuse the other party.

Paul Ryan sold shares on same day as private briefing of banking crisis

Even Matt Yglesias walked back his claim of insider trading (http://twitter.com/mattyglesias/statuses/235083750780837888).

But hey, let's dissect it.

The claim is that Paul Ryan sold his shares in JP Morgan Chase, Wachovia, and Citigroup in September 2008 and thereby benefited from insider knowledge.

The problem for this accusation is that while Ryan sold those shares in September, he was also selling them at other times in the year...both before and after September:

http://pfds.opensecrets.org/N00004357_2008.pdf

Oh, he was also buying and selling other stocks during the same time period.

Now, if you have an axe to grind I suppose this looks all sinister, but in reality there is no insider trading pattern here. In fact, the amounts involved are under $15k.

So sure, Ryan sold Citigroup in September. He also sold in January, March, June, August, and December. He purchased in February, April, July, and October.

Oh, he sold Wells Fargo in January, which hit almost $40/share on the day of his super-sinister private briefing...why didn't he buy Wells Fargo?

In other words, y'all are cherry picking transactions ala Paul Krugman and trying to manufacture an insider trading accusation.

That isn't an insider pattern.

They aren't upset. They are running around High-5in' each other because Obama going to be reelected.

Same way they did in 2008 after McCain announced the Palin was his VP pick.

Another slam dunk win for the Lefties.

Oh please. I happen to know that they are. Ryan's budget recommendations have them screaming bloody murder.

There is a reason that a few hundred to a couple thousand AFL-CIO lib union members are going to be protesting Ryan's fundraiser at the Venetian hotel in Vegas tonight.

Funny, huh?

It's why Reid hasn't let the Senate vote on it...he's afraid the moderate Democrats will vote yes and get it passed, putting pressure on the Dear Leader to sign it, and thus disrupting whatever planned budget meltdown and fundamental transformation the DNC leadership has planned out.
