Just picked mine up tonight after thinking about it overnight. I'm impressed so far just handling it. Really looking forward to getting some ammo through it at some point this week. Few things I like so far:

-Very close in size to my PPS 9mm.
-Weight feels slightly less than the PPS.
-Trigger pull and reset is much better right out of the box than the PPS.
-Love the Fiber optic front sight.

After reading a bunch of reviews and handling it yesterday I knew I needed to add one to the safe. I've loved my PPS since I bought it and it has been 100% flawless for me. As soon as I saw the XDs I lusted after one. Just happened to check out a shop and they had one in the case. I've never been a huge fan of the XD lineup, but after actually looking at the XDs I was impressed. If it shoots as nice as it looks and feels then it is most definitely a winner!

Nice gun. I'd like to see a comparison to the G36, because I realy like the 36.

Congrats on the new XD-S! I really enjoyed putting some rounds downrange when I first shot mine. I used 230 gr. ball, and only ran about 160 or so rounds through it. That grip is pretty aggressive, too!

JoeBob Outfitters has the extended magazines (http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Springfield_XDs_45ACP_7rd_Extended_Magazine_XDS500_p/xd-s50071.htm)in stock, and they ship really quickly! Their customer service is great, too! I removed the collars from the extra magazines I ordered (they wouldn't fit in any of my magazine holders...) and they work just fine.

Great pics, JB! Enjoy your new .45!

Thanks all. I just ordered a HarWell Holster on ebay. Just like this, but tan. I've read good things about them.

Also thanks for the link to Joe Bob's Outfitters. Ordered 2 seven rounders :) Also, if you are a member of Snipers Hide Forum you can get a 5% discount on your order.

nice gun, i'd like to shoot one. it is a little shorter in the grip than the g36, and flatter and thinner. i like shooting the 36, i'm thinking the XDs maybe a little harder to hold, but thin is easy to hide.:wavey:

I had a 36 and have large hands. I'm definitely liking the XDs much more myself.

I just shot with my new XDs 45 today for the first time and this one is a keeper. Very accurate! The recoil is a little bit more than my Glock39 45 GAP, but that is very minimal. I find my Sig P938 Extreme 9mm a bit harsh to shoot than both my 45's.

The Glock 39 has a crisper trigger break than the XDs. The XDs has a little bit mushy or tiny creep before it breaks. I prefer the XDs trigger bec. It is very predictable when to break.

I should have my 7rd mags tomorrow. I also ordered 100 rounds of Federal 230gr HST ammo to test in it. I also have a box of Speer Gold Dot 230gr HP Short Barrel ammo as well.

Hoping to hit the range tomorrow and run Remington UMC through it. If I get there I will try and get some video of it.

I've had bad luck with UMC, lots of failures to fire in my XDS. Strike is in the center and deep, must be bad primers I guess.

Hopefully you have a better experience.

I'm loving mine. Close to 1000 through it already. Had a couple FTEs after 400 rounds without cleaning, but after cleaning it was good to go. The extended mags are starting to give me a bit of trouble though.

The only thing Walmart had that was reasonable was the UMC. They were wiped out of most other stuff except Federal 50rd boxes, but at $18/box I can buy cheaper offline.. It isn't my top choice, but to get some rounds through it hopefully it feeds it.

I called my local gun dealer again today and he is still on the waiting list to get a XD-S. I could get one on line but I want to give him the money so I'm going to wait.

Just got back from Bridgeport Range. Put 200 rounds of UMC through her and a few mags of Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 230gr JHP.

It shot really well. Like the PPS, it is thin so with my larger hands it takes some getting used to. Towards the end my shooting hand was a bit sore. The gun performed very well. I had one failure to feed, but I think that was my "helping" the slide forward. I couldn't replicate the issue again.

I basically shot it at 15'-20' with a few mags at 40 or so feet to just get a feel for it. There are no lines indicating the distance so i'm guessing at what distance I shot, but they should be close. While I could hit a torso without much issue at 40', it excelled at closer range. Before my hand got sore I was able to double tap at 15' pretty close together. Slow steady, fire was good as well and it proved to be an accurate pistol when I cooperated.

I hadn't shot in over a month so I found myself anticipating some recoil every now and then which caused me to drop a shot every now and then.

This was my best grouping of the night. It was also one of the first few magazines I shot out of the gun.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/jamesbernatchez/f1bc5fc4.jpg

This was at about the same distance as before, but with a 7 round magazine and I emptied it in rapid fire fashion. You can see the dropped shot, which was probably the second or third fired, at the bottom of the frame.

Recoil, for such a small .45, wasn't as bad as I expected.

All the mags (5 and 7 rounders) performed flawlessly. I can't wait to run some HST through it next once my order arrives.

I just got mine last week and I'm looking forward to your gold Dot vs HST results before I stock up!

Where did you order your 7rd mags from? The cheapest place I found so far was at Cheaper Than Dirt (~$34)..

Love my XDs.

First one was a lemon. It was replaced and I've not had a failure or any problems ...

The 7 round mags were from Joe Bob Outfitters. Came very quickly too I might add.

I should have my HST tomorrow. Then it's just trying to find the time to get back to the range.
