I have stayed at the Holiday Inn in Nicholasville too and it was very nice.
What they said!
There's another one very near it...don't remember the name...it's no doubt cheaper...but it just plain smelled bad the last time I was there, tried two different rooms...and went to the HI.

It 18.2 miles from range and about same price if anyone is interested

Stay at the castle!!! No for real, there's a castle that you can stay at. I've always wanted to stay there, but it's probably expensive?

I like it! A bit cheap though. You can't even get double beds until you get up in the $600 range geez...

You may want to consider staying in Ashland or somewhere else near to but not in Lexington if there's a horse race that weekend. If you stay a little ways out from the race bs the prices of rooms shouldn't be any different than any other time of the year.

If you wanted to stay a little further away, there are several hotels near the airport in Erlanger, KY. There's also a Hampton Inn on Turfway right off I75. These are both probably between 60-90 minutes from the range. I live in Hebron and will be driving down that morning if anybody wants to carpool.
