My son and I both own GL 22's. He reloads for us, using 180 gr XTP's using Tightgroup. I am more interested in 165 Grain bullets, any info on powders and bullets would be welcome for both weights.

I would go with a slower powder for the higher pressure 40 s&w. I like Titegroup for other uses but use H Universal for most of my 40 S&W loads. My all around general loading is a 165 grn plated bullet with a mid charge of Universal, cycles fine, no worries about over pressure.

I like 4.5 gr of W231 under a 180 gr bullet. Mild recoil and excellent accuracy. I like Titegroup under my 230 gr Colt 45's.

I wouldn't use TG for anything but bunnyfart loads & with the XTP, I do not really see the point. FOr duplicating full power factory loads, TG is just the wrong choice. One of the medium burners like Unique, WSF or Universal, PP or HS6 are better choices. I shoot mostly lead, 170-175gr, but like the 165gr plated as well.

180gr. seems to be the most popular by me.

For my "full power" loads I still never load to the max in the 40. I am happy with the results I get with HS6 and Autocomp when using starting to mid-range charges. And I usually load just slightly longer than 1.125" as well.

Off the top of my head: Unique, WSF, Blue Dot, Power Pistol and Longshot for any and all bullet weights.

185 seems to be the most popular by me.Must be a new powder I've never heard of 185,AA #2,5,7 and 9,HP-38,231 their's a bunch of numbers but not 185.
Unless you mean 185 gr. bullets. SJ 40

Universal works very well for me in .40 with 165s or 180s.

In both 180 and 165 I have loads worked up using

WSF
Win 231
WST
Tight group
SR 7624
power pistol

In 165 Grain I was able to find a load for each powder that worked. I found Power pistol and SR 7624 to be the most accurate in the mid range. (Using a Glock 35)

For 180 Grain I prefer win 231 and WSF. Over all I prefer 180 Grain bullets in the 40.

WSF is a great powder for .40. I like 5.5gr WSF with a 180gr bullet at 1.125" OAL for 950fps. Add one grain of powder with a 165gr bullet, same OAL, for a ~150fps increase.

Weird. You settled on 5.5gr. I settled on 5.4gr. My feel-o-meter was telling me I was in the 930-950fps range without ever chrono'ing.
