Picture thread/curiosity thread.

Of course, a large number of us CC, or at least glovebox a pistol. But other than LEOs(pics welcome though!), who else keeps a long gun in your vehicles? And what's your choice of iron?

For safety sake, try not to put up pics showing lic. plates, lol. Just in case...

Here's mine, PSA build, pretty bare-bones, spends most of it's time bouncing around in the back of the Mustang.

It's out right now as the car is under the knife right now. But when the Fairlane gets back on the road, I have a ratty old 870 that'll go back in the trunk.

Is that a GP100 attached to the seat? Pachmayr grips, right?

Wish I had the dough to have a suppressed AR as a truck gun!

And that's not a thin aluminium plate it's secured to, right?

The plate you see there is the track that come with the lock. Behind it I secured it with steel plate.

I figured, was curious though.

I'm still reading their site, do they accommodate shotguns with sidesaddle?

A rifle is always nice, but plenty of "problems" have been solved with the tried & true 12ga Meat-Grinder.

Better than a handgun anyway, and pretty accurate with slugs.

Great looking shotgun, I would'nt feel undergunned with that.

Thanks, I've had it since I was a kid, that's the latest incarnation. I still wouldn't mind getting the receiver drilled and tapped for an Aimpoint H1, but there isn't anywhere local to do it.

This paratrooper has been in the trunk since the turn of the century......before that, I had an 870 Police for a time.......

Yes, the trigger lock is on it.......It's in a soft case with a shoulder bag and 100rds on strippers.

We only keep a pistol in the car.

No long guns needed as I am always armed and the race wars haven't started yet.

Around here "truck guns" are rarely used for human targets. but we do put them to good use.

Here in South FL they would ONLY be used on human targets!

Not too many wild boar running around......unless you count the illegal immigrants!

Bingo. Years ago I faced a large hog, I had a pistol.

Won't ever make that mistake again.

@ GunGuru;

The "war" may not have started yet, but plenty of skirmishes in full swing already my friend. I'm glad you carry man. Odds are good if I am faced with a situation I'll have to rely on my EDC, but the rifle in the car is extra peace of mind.

Around here we have a lot of wildlife and livestock vs vehicle accidents. One LEo went out into a field to put down an elk once (in this case the elk had been shot legally by a hunter who made the mistake of thinking because it went down it was done. went to get his truck, elk stood up.....) anyway the LEO only had a pistol and shotgun, he went into the field to use his pistol to finish the critter. stepped in a hole, broke his leg in 2 places and almost got elk stomped for his trouble.

If he would have waited a few minutes somebody would have come along with a rifle in their truck.

Damn. :whistling: That's a helluva bad day.

The hog in question was a big old bugger, and I had an old .45, no extra mag. We were camping, I'd gone off exploring and stumbled across this pig on the other side of a clearing. Nothing that awkward looking should be able to move that fast.

Those 8rds go mighty quick. Last couple were stupid, panic shooting behind me as I hauled ass for the nearest tree(I was 15:upeyes:) I sat in that tree for what felt like forever, waiting for that bastige to bleed out.

IIRC, there were three hits. One right smack in the middle of it's forehead that did zilch to the wall of bone, just glanced off. One, maybe two on the body, one in the neck. The neck hit was the bleeder.

...

Fast forward 18yrs. I spend alot of time out in the Hill Country with friends, and camping further north. Thankfully, Elk & bears aren't an issue out here. But over the last several years, the hog population has blown up. Some of my favorite roads to cruise my bike on, I won't ride at night anymore.

Handguns are fine for some critters. But if it's big enough to hurt you, and fast enough to chase you... Reach out with a rifle, hit it from a distance.
