I was trying to organize my safe last night when I noticed that I have a few brands of different speed loaders and that made me wonder how many are actually out there.

So, am I missing any on the list?

-Safariland
-HKS
-SL Speed loader
-5 Star
-Jet loader
-Maxfire

I did not know they were that many. I have only used HKS.

I can't see any reason to own any brand OTHER than HKS.

I've been using them for 35+ years, and I'm still using some of the original ones I bought all those years ago.

I'm the same way with Safariland speedloaders. I still use some that I bought for my first issue wheelgun right after I got out of the LE academy.

I bet there are still some Dade speedloaders in PPC.

I forget the brand, but an early, early speedloader was a rubber cone that worked like a circular Speed Strip, start the rounds into the cylinder and peel the loader away.

Got it, that was the Hunt Speedloader.

+1 on the Safariland speedloaders.

Rather than start a new thread, I'd figured I'd glom onto this one with my question...does anyone know of any speedloaders for a .44 N-frame S&W other than the HKS 29 or Safariland Comp 1?

I plan on getting a set of safariland to see how they compare to the HKS.

HKS and Safariland Comp's are the only I have actually seen in person. I use HKS, simple and functional. I carry one in a pouch up front when I carry my jframe on my belt.

I used to be an HKS person until I tried a Safariland speed loader. Push in and loaded. No need to stop the cylinder from turning or use two hands.

S.L. Variant beats them all, IMO. :wavey:

Do they still shoot PPC? When I competed, I used nothing but Dades.

I bought some when they had just started out and were called 3D Inc. Excellent quality and it's a real eye-candy.

I used to have some Dade 'screw' speedloaders (when I shot PPC.)
Nothing like pulling them from the holder, and dumping 6 rounds onto the dirt/rocks!!!!!!:steamed: :wow:

Since then, I use only HKS speedloaders!

I had a couple of Dades, but I only used them to "Load six rounds and holster." because they were easy to fill and saved my Safarilands for the reloads.

Do they make a shorter version? The only ones I've seen are too dang long... they're shorter than the Comp IIIs, but that ain't saying much!

The HKS, and Comp IIs are my preference.
