Ryan, the ACLU charges, has “almost uniformly harmful views on five key civil liberties issues”: immigration, gay marriage, abortion, waterboarding and voter ID laws.

Abortion is now a civil right?

Really?

You're against freedom of speech?

What about the 4th and 5th amendments?

You know ACLU represented and helped Oliver North, you against him too?

From the ACLU website,

The ACLU disagrees with the Supreme Court's conclusion about the nature of the right protected by the Second Amendment. We do not, however, take a position on gun control itself. In our view, neither the possession of guns nor the regulation of guns raises a civil liberties issue.

Gotta love the ACLU. They selectively protect constitutional rights, so long as the right coincides with their political beliefs.

The thread should say,"ACLU endorses Ryan",because he'll get my vote.
Those people at the ACLU just aren't as smart as they used to be anymore.

From the ACLU About Us page:

http://www.aclu.org/about-aclu-0

The ACLU is our nation's guardian of liberty, working daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties that the Constitution and laws of the United States guarantee everyone in this country.

These rights include:

Anyone care to guess which one is missing?

Once in a while the ACLU accidently represents a just cause but in general and this case in particular a negative response from them is a validation that the Ryan is the right choice.
