View Full Version : Do I need Gas Checks?
I was given a Lee Mold to cast .44 bullets. Its model number is C429-240-SWC. I know the "C" means Gas Check. I will be casting from wheel weights. I will be loading light target loads for .44 special and .44 Mag. If it matters, the guns these will be used in is a Ruger Redhawk, and an Intertec Virginia Dragoon.
Thanks for your input.....
Actually the C in SWC, doesn't mean gas check, SWC just stands for semi wad cutter, about 8 to 8.5 grains of unique is a good plinking/small game load
Ah okay sorry I see what you're saying now, yea you could drop down to 7.5 if you wanted, but I know 8.5 in my handi rifle feels like I'm shooting a big pellet gun lol
