So. The Sphinx is basically a very high end CZ75, isn't it? I'm not asking that with snarkiness, I'm asking if that's what the gun is, since it looks like that is the case.

Are they really worth the money they cost? What makes them worth six times what an actual 75B costs?

I have the AT2000 Competitor version, which was basically the top of the line in the 2000 series (which I prefer over the 3000 series).

They are extremely well machined pistols and also well finished. The parts are the same quality as CZ (which is not a bad thing), but they're finished and fit to a higher level. Are they worth the prices today? Not sure, but I don't like the 3000 series anyway, due to the rail. If I could get it without the rail, I'd already have one to go with my 2000 series.

Of course, you're going to pay a premium for a firearm built in Switzerland. That's just the way it is. In fact, with the P210 gone, its the last remaining pistol built there. That's cool in of itself.

I had the opportunity to buy a Sphinx back in 2004 for $500. It was a base model but well worth it. I didn't know anything about the pistol so I left and went to research it. I came back and it was gone. I regret not getting that gun.

When you handle one you can tell it is quality.

Ouch!

Unless it was the 380, that was one hell of a deal.

It was the 9mm and it looked like yours without the comp. I found out that the going rate was $900 and beelined back to my LGS to pick it up. I was too late.

Sounds like the shop didn't know the value. It would be worth even more today.

It's been said that Sphinx is to CZ75s what Wilson Combat is to 1911s..

Souns like a fair statement.

Of course, the CZ is a specific model, while the 1911 is not.

I have the AT.380-M. I think I paid about $400 for it.

Nice gun if you like DAO (I'm not a big fan of DAO).

I haven't shot it in several years. As I recall it shot low and to the left at 10 yards.

Very nice, M2.

I see the 380s on Gunbroker quite a bit. They sell for much lower prices than the CZ clone larger Sphinx pistols.

I would like to pick up one of the new polymer models some day. They look OK for a polymer pistol.

I was wondering what the pricing will be on them. :dunno:

It better be damn nice if it's over 500

I agree, but the other Sphinx pistols aren't exactly cheap.
