I've been looking online to buy a Sig P226 and i'm uncertain what some of these model numbers mean. I'm pretty sure about some of it:

2-SG226R
meaning it's the P226 model with rail mount

9 or 40 specifying the type of ammo either 9mm or 40cal

CA is meaning California I think since they have special laws regarding handguns but I could be way off. The real part I want to know is what is this B or BSS?

Any Sig experts out there willing to help explain this to me.

2-SG226R-9-B
2-SG226R-9-B-CA
2-SG226R-9-BSS
2-SG226R-9-BSS-CA

2-SG226R-40-B
2-SG226R-40-B-CA
2-SG226R-40-BSS
2-SG226R-40-BSS-CA

Blued and Stainless Steel maybe?

That sounds very plausible.

The one I have is E26R-9-SSE, the SSE is Stainless Elite w/Night Sights and short reset trigger. Not sure how the model number relates.

Here is what was listed on Sig's spec sheet for the P226.

E26R-9-B (9mm, Contrast)
E26R-9-BSS, (9mm, Night Sights)
E26R-40-B (.40S&W, Contrast Sights)
E26R-40-BSS (.40S&W, Night Sights)
E26R-357-BSS (.357SIG, Night Sights)

It seems that the SS relates to Night Sights.

Maybe this will help :dunno:
