Doing a deal with someone on another forum and picking up a stainless Ruger 1911 that was purchased and never fired, just put in safe. I'm paying $700 FTF and $25 for the transfer, am I getting killed on the price?

PA requires you to go through an FFL for a FTF transaction?

I got mine for $699 from my local gun shop so I don't think it's a bad deal.

The only one I have yet to see in person had a price of $799 on it, I fondeled it and then laughed at them as I handed it back.

Wouldn't surprise me. The OP is in Philly, which isn't like the rest of the State. Don't really know though.

Yes. I actually like it that way. You know for sure that the person you are purchasing from can at least legally purchase a firearm. If the gun ends up being involved in a crime it can be traced back to the person who owned it at the time.

There's a brand new one here for $669.

It wouldn't be a long drive for you. It was still there Friday when I stopped in.

You also wouldn't have to pay the transfer fee.

I would get the new one for $669 if available.
