I am wanting a HK45 now for a few months. I guy I know has one and he would trade for my Kimber CDP in .40 remington.

I have a 90% condition, 3 mags, a NICE trigger job and no box. His HK is close to new.

Is my CDP have any additional value being a .40 over a .45? They made few of this model and they are sort of uncommon. HK is still cranking out HK45's.

I really like my CDP and it runs great. No issues in over 400 rounds. I know that the HK will run flawless also.

I can buy a HK for 999.00 from Buds. Should I keep my Kimber and save up some $$$ for the HK or do the trade?

Yes, I am up at 1:30 am thinking about this and I get up at 6:00am to go to work....am I nuts?

Last I priced an HK45, they were going for much less than $999. As for the Kimber, I'd suggest trying to sell it outright to someone that wanted one badly, then buying an HK from there. If you find the right buyer for the Kimber, you could come out quite a bit better than the trade offer.

Best price for a 45 I've seen is $959. My local shop is asking over $1000 I think but some of their prices are just bizarre, especially HK for some reason.

I would see which you want more and then go for it. Ig you want both save up and get the HK and keep the Kimber. Good luck.

I always advocate selling and or trading as a good way of getting a new gun...ive NEVER sold or traded a gun ive missed...NEVER(because if I liked the gun i was willing to part with in the first place id never have done so) In your case I would sell outright the kimber and then buy the Sig but yes id do that..now if its one of those things where he just wants your Kimber and does not want cash(and yes ive seen people like this they just want to TRADE not sell stuff) but YES in that case id still take the HK...you may lose a few bucks in that deal but not enough to keep me from doing the deal as long as the HK was as nice as the Kimber (meaning shape wise no dings, scratches, etc)

see if you like me(not many are, you guys are RICH comparatively) id not be able to do like many say...keep yours and save up..it would take me 2.5 YEARS to save up and not many people are willing to wait 2.5 years to sell a gun :)

I would save up for the HK unless you just don't like the CDP.

If you can't save up the money, then yes. I would do it.

Yes! IMHO, I would never trade a Kimber for a H&K! If you have to have a H&K save up. You have a proven Kimber, and you will regret the trade!

Yes, I agree with this. But I really like my Ultra CDP II and my HK 45 ACPs.

The guy must have had waffles for breakfast. Why..because he waffled on the deal. I am just gonna buy a HK45, have some other guns I am not attached to that I can be shed of.

i have a full size USP .45 and a compact .40 that I really like. I thought I might like a new version of a HK pistol like a HK45 or a P30

Thanks for the input from you guys and i am really happy to keep my CDP. It is a sweet pistol.

Yes, I own a HK45...incredible pistol...
But they are 2 different platforms,
here are some pro"s and con"s

Kimber
-good build quality
-single action trigger, usually crisp
-accurate
-plenty of after market parts.

HK
-excellent engineering
-limited after market parts like sights
-mags are expensive $55-60 each
-Accurate,relaible
-excellent ergonomics
-can NOT shoot lead
-long DA pull, exeptable SA pull

Thanks for the comparison of the two pistols. It is spot on and has brought MORE LIGHT to my decision.

Gonna keep the Kimber and order a HK45.

Much appreciated

Kimber, in many eyes the bastard of the 1911 world for an HK45, what many people consider the best .45 pistol made? Yeah. Do it.

The Kimber CDP in .40 remington is a very very rare 1911, you might want to hold onto it. :dunno:
