I recently purchased a new Springfield EMP 9. I've put about 400 rounds through it and I really like the pistol and will be carrying it as primary.

I find that the stock crossed cannon grips are a little slippery for me. I'm thinking of Black Alumagrips:

I have put a pair of Raasco on my Colt Defender that I like a lot, but I feel they may be a little fragile and get dinged up on the EMP. So, what are your experiences and recomendations?

I guess the Alumagrips are aluminum, what are the pros & cons? Also, what is the proper tool to remove the grip screws? I think I found a star shaped driver in a driver kit I have that will work, but I don't want to make a mistake and wreck the screws. Why didn't Springfield use a standard hex or something? Thanks for your input.

Screws are either hex or torx,......take a look at them.
I find Alumagrips to be slippery. I would suggest Larry Davidson's
Horned Lizard grips or VZ grips. Also keep in mind, you need grips
especially made for an EMP. Compact grips will overhang a tad bit.

I'm aware that EMP grips are their own size. If the Alumigrips are slippery, that's not what I'm looking for, so thanks for the info.

No particular order:
VZ
Larry David
Sarge (http://www.thefinergrain.com/)

Personally I'd go with VSZ

Many live the Alumagrips. They are not for me.

The Horned lizards came stock on my .40. They are very durable and have plenty of grip. I'm also a huge fan of VZ grips. The stock Springfield screws are torx drive.

I'd recommend these from Larry Davidson, he made these for me back in 2007, he called them "radials".
