Yesterday I picked up a Remington R1s from an almost local gun shop. I could have ordered it for a little less but if I have any problems the in house gun smith takes care of everything for me....Worth the extra IMO.

Then I wanted to see what black grips looked like on it

So, the "S" indicates stainless steel?

Nice:thumbsup: Shoot the hell out of it.

I like the wood grips better.

Yes sir!

Nice Shoot the hell out of it.

I like the wood grips better.

I put 100 rounds though it yesterday, not one failure of any kind! I did strip it, clean and re lube it before I shot it. It's shooting 1-2 inches left but had a 2 inch group from 10 yards, I was free hand and I was a little nervous...That a BIG hole at the end of that gun LOL Taking it out again tomorrow and get the sights adjusted then try to shoot propped.

I'm not a fan of the wood on the SS, just ordered a new set of grips for it....

I've had my R1 out once for a shooting session.
Fed and fired lead wad cutters with no problem. Not a single malfunction.

Thanks guys, I am loving this gun! Still shooting flawless and I still get a big smile while loading mags with these huge bullets!!!

I read a lot about the 70 and 80 series safety systems and I was a little worried about having the 80 series but the trigger feels great and I have no complaints. The fact that I never shot one with a 70 series probably helps! I plan on adding a blued one to the collection next year.

Very nice looking 1911! They are very well made and accurate pistols! Enjoy!

I think the black grips look good on a stainless gun.
Wood looks best on a black or highly polished blued gun. Sort of that retro look.
Stainless is modern and looks good with modern black or gray grips.
Just my humble opinion though...

Mighty nice! I like the wood grips. Clean lines, simple and just plain awesome!
